Henry Street wines and Liquors, a boutique wine and spirits shop with a 30+ years presence in the heart of Carroll Gardens, is looking for an energetic, dependable and detail oriented individual to join its team. Our philosophy is simple: impeccable customer service and amazing product selection. Therefore, top notch customer service skills are a must, as is the ability to learn product knowledge quickly, basic office computer aptitude and a genuine passion for the wine & spirits industry. You will directly assist customers, process transactions and play a vital role in making our retail experience a positive one. Job Duties Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Providing superior customer service to our patrons in a polite and knowledgeable fashion, including: welcome and greet customers as they enter the store; offer help and provide personalized recommendations based on their preferences and requirements; answer customers questions and concerns; upsell when appropriate; promote current sales; be enthusiastic and informative about all products; provide in-depth product knowledge including features and overall value; handle customer complaints in a calm and professional manner. * Cashier duties (including proficient operation of our POS system and accurate money handling); process purchases, returns, and exchanges. * Maintain a clean and organized store environment, ensuring products are properly displayed and stocked. * Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, industry trends, and pricing to provide accurate information to customers. * Assist in inventory management, including restocking shelves and conducting regular inventory counts in the storage area. * Maintain a clean and tidy work and retail space: General cleaning, organizing, and upkeep of the store and displays. * Accurately receive and accept product shipments from vendors. * Gathering products and inspecting orders for accuracy when fulfilling pick-up and delivery orders. * Assist with vendor tastings and product selections: opportunity to try a myriad of wines & spirits. * Answering phone calls for orders and inquiries. * Help create a positive environment in which to shop and buy. * Work as a team to achieve sales goals. * Build rapport through conversation and honest recommendations. * Assist in special events and in-store tastings. Minimum experience and requirements: * Must be at least 21 years of age. * Possess basic knowledge of wine and spirits. * Outgoing personality and enjoyment of sales/interacting with others. * Ability to lift 40-50lbs overhead multiple times daily. * Candidate must have a smartphone * Wine and spirits experience in a retail sales environment a major plus. * Computer literate; familiarity using POS systems. * Extremely personable, positive, and approachable. * Fantastic customer service skills. * Comfortable standing for long periods of time. * Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple tasks effectively. * Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
