Full description of the position

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Snowbird is situated in the middle of the Wasatch Mountain Range and is not only home to awe-inspiring views and mighty terrain, it is also home to employees equally as remarkable. TITLE: Snowbird Assistant Director of Conference Services & Catering LOCATION: Cliff Lodge STATUS: Full Time/Year Round SCHEDULE: Varied dependent on event schedule SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Conference Services, you'll manger the Conference Services Managers and provide support to the operation and functionality of the Conference Services Department. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Assumes director's responsibilities in director's absence. * Supervise the Conference Services Managers which includes mentoring, training, hiring and development of the team. * Support and help find solutions to remove barriers for the team. * Manage the workload of the Conference Services Managers team. * Partner with other Snowbird departments to improve communication and resolve issues. * Maintain and create standards for service team through SOP development and BEO and REO standards. * Help the team improve processes and customer service. * Coordinate large, complex and VIP events as needed. * Communicate to the various resort operational departments the needs of a particular group coming on property. * Assist the operations management and team as needed. * Oversee implementation and completion of assigned groups through BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) and REO's (Restaurant Event Orders) and being on-site to manage events. * Discuss and fully understand what clients are trying to accomplish while on property then use this information as a tool in coordinating event as well as upselling certain revenue areas within the resort. * Attend Pre-cons and regularly scheduled meetings. * Take on additional responsibilities as assigned. Interactions * Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird. WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE Education & Experience Requirements * High School Diploma or equivalent required. * 3-5 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence. Specific Requirements * Must be at least 21 years of age. Skills & Knowledge * Must be capable in some computer programs, e.g., Microsoft Word and Outlook. Amadeus, HOST and Excel experience is helpful as well. * Strong communication skills through e-mail and over the phone are imperative. Requires the ability to communicate clearly and precisely in a variety of significant situations, both in verbal and written forms. Requires the ability to clearly communicate the directions given by clients to operations staff for conferences to run smoothly. * Requires sales abilities to upsell and increase resort revenues. * Strong decision-making skills, oftentimes on the spot are needed. * Must have 3-5 years' experience as Conference Services Manager or related hospitality experience. * Previous management experience preferred. Work Schedule * Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels. Working Conditions * Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures. * May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird. * Must be able to stand for long periods of time. * General office conditions prevail.
