Date Posted March 17, 2025 Type Full Time Job Details FLSA Classification: Nonexempt Salary Grade: To Be Determined Reports to: Director of Development Department: Development The Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa is a non-profit organization and home to more than 2,800 animals representing nearly 240 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, and is fully accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The mission of the Blank Park Zoo is to inspire an appreciation of the natural world through conservation, education, research and recreation. Position Purpose The Membership Manager oversees all aspects of the Membership program including managing membership desk staff, sales, communications, database management, reporting, and management of the Tri program. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. * Responsible for the membership hotline, selling memberships, assisting members with any questions, and administering digital membership cards. * Responsible for ensuring online memberships and memberships sold at SCI or LHF are entered in a timely fashion into the database. * Manages all aspects of membership program including but not limited to sales, communication, seasonal promotions, and strategic planning as it relates to pricing and engagement. * Act as the main point of contact for the TRI Membership program in regards to contract maintenance, weekly sales transfers, and database management. * Oversees the accounting process of netting out monthly membership sales for revenue disbursements to the Science Center and Living History Farms as it relates to the TRI Membership agreement. * Oversees the planning, marketing, communication and execution of Membership Events, involving other departments when necessary/appropriate. * Creates and executes special campaigns to increase sales. * Maintains practices and procedures that lead to the overall success of the Membership program Requirements Competencies * Resourceful - Understanding of or can research all applicable topics as they relate to fundraising and membership, operations of an attraction and customer service. * Flexible - Ability to handle a flexible workload with a variety of assignments while also maintain composure in an environment that can be stressful. * Independent - Must be able to operate independently, exercise initiative and demonstrate capacity for detail and follow-up. * Positive - Must be a positive, effective team member and be able to establish professional working relationships. * Communicator - Communicates clearly, both verbal and written. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities Manages and supervises membership desk staff, typically between 2-4 individuals. Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and utilize manual dexterity to use computer mouse and keyboard and other office equipment. Additional eligibility requirements * Must be insurable to drive a zoo vehicle. * Must be able to maintain work hours that will serve the needs of the Blank Park Zoo. * Must be able to maintain calm and act professionally in all situations such as emergencies and guest interactions.
