Overview Sales & Estimating is responsible for the business development aspects of the organization. The duties include identifying business opportunities, building and maintaining successful relationships with prospects and existing clients. You will also be responsible for constructing and reviewing proposals, negotiating contracts and closing the deal for the best margin possible. KNOW HOW: This position requires a thorough knowledge of steel fabrication, steel erection and related items. Relationships with contractors will also be valuable. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: This person needs to have knowledge of the landscape of the Contracting world. This person needs to have knowledge of the fabrication process. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop relationships with prospective clients, while maintaining existing client relationships * Partner with sales teams to create contract-winning proposals for current and prospective clients * Negotiate contract terms with clients and communicate terms to the team * Collaborate with production teams to ensure unique contracted product specifications are included. (Hand off or Kick off meeting) * Budget projects until time for a detailed take off. * Review bid before quoting. * Bid follow-up with low bidding contractors. * Obtain contracts for the company * Maintain, review and update bid sources. * Assist the other departments where required to keep a project running smoothly. * Assist in solving customer back charges and complaints. * Attend sales meetings * Attend production meeting when necessary * Determine bidding job priority according to present and long- range fabrication schedules. * Monitor job costs and changes to contract * Become a subject matter export on our business products, processes and operations, and remain up-to-date on industry news.
