OVERVIEW: Our client is one of the top independently owned boutique hotels in the BWI/Hanover market, with an array of upscale amenities. ABOUT THE ROLE: The Group Sales Manager role is primarily an inside sales position, utilizing inbound leads to book and complete sales for the hotel property. Their clientele will focus heavily on SMERF and will also be expected to detail their events. This role requires a dynamic and fun candidate with experience in Hotel Event Operations , Hotel Catering Sales/Services , or Hotel Executive Meeting Management. This will be an ideal opportunity for a junior-level candidate with the above background interested in transitioning into sales within the Hospitality Industry, with mentorship from an experienced Hotel Sales leader. * Position Type: Full-time, permanent, exempt position. * Location: Hanover, MD, 100% on-site. * Compensation: 65K - $70K, quarterly bonus, and bi-annual upside (uncapped). * Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Vacation, FSA, Short/Long-Term Disability, Life/AD&D, and others. PRIMARY DUTIES: * Conduct inside sales duties to actively increase Hotel Sales from the SMERF sector (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal groups). * Collaborate with the Director of Sales to implement effective sales processes based on the defined strategic approach. * Utilize incoming leads to conduct discovery calls, follow up with client needs, and present services. * Arrange and conduct on-property client visits and actively engage with clients to develop rapport. * Negotiate room rates and hotel services within booking guidelines to ensure successful closure of sales. * Accurately produce and review all sales contracts and rate agreements. * Detail events for each completed sale by utilizing appropriate tools such as Cvent. * Collaborate with other Hotel Departments to ensure proper execution of post-sale service delivery. * Track and record all sales and service activities within the Hotel's Catering System (Delphi, Cvent), including all notes, actions, and related details to sales and service activities. * Produce monthly sales reports and sales forecasts for assigned areas of responsibility. * Ensure proper communications are maintained with the Director of Sales and other Managers on any unresolved issues or incidents to ensure prompt resolution and customer satisfaction. * Acknowledge and assist all Hotel guests and clients as needed to ensure customer satisfaction. * Participate in organizations, networking events, and/or attend trade shows relevant to the market sector (SMERF). * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all Hotel Services, Operations, Features, and Policies. * Assist the Hotel Team with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor. REQUIREMENTS: * 2+ years of experience in Hotel Event Operations , Hotel Catering Sales , or Hotel Executive Meeting Management. * Prior experience working with clients in the SMERF sector (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal groups). * Availability during evenings and weekends as needed. * Professional demeanor and a capable communicator who works well with all clients, colleagues, and supervisors. * The ability to take the initiative, work independently, and overcome challenges with eagerness and enthusiasm is a must. * Ideal Software Experience: Delphi and Cvent.
