Job Overview Manages a large book of business as determined by the department with no supervision. Supports assigned producer(s) with the processing and servicing of primarily new and renewal large commercial lines accounts in accordance with agency's policies and procedures. Recommends, negotiates, places, and monitors loss sensitive plans. Manages layered property and excess programs and premium allocations. Presents proposals with producer(s) and takes a lead role as needed. Assists and conducts training on a technical level for assigned Account Manager(s) and is responsible for their career path towards becoming a Senior Account Manager and/or stronger Account Manager III including creating and meeting an established timeline to achieve this goal and auditing and monitoring the progress throughout the timeline. Minimum of one Account Manager III. Assists with workload analysis, backlog solutions and workload efficiencies with AMS360, ImageRight and department procedures. Duties Coverage Assistance and Application Management * Recommends and assists assigned Producer(s) with explanation of available coverage options, completion of forms and rate quotations. Possesses knowledge of coverages and interprets coverage forms. * Examines applications, renewal requests, and endorsements for compliance with underwriting authority and guidelines. * Analyzes new business applications and works with independent agent(s) and client(s) to obtain any required additional information. * Solicits account renewals on behalf of the Independent Agent(s). Provides proposals and/or insurance summaries as needed. Guidance and Support * Provides guidance to Account Managers on the handling of difficult or complex accounts. * Handles day-to-day coverage, system, and procedural questions and inquiries from staff. Industry Knowledge and Professional Development * Monitors, measures, and reports on workload and backlog. Identifies recommendations for addressing workflow challenges and backlog to achieve efficiency. * Strives to remain current in the industry marketplace and changing market conditions and communicates appropriately to staff. * Keeps abreast of changes in the market including general rate increases, carrier appetite, and general swings in the marketplace. * Participates in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and professional development. Professional Attitude and Training * Maintains and exhibits a positive, professional attitude in the performance of job. Treats clients, prospects, and agency employees with courtesy and respect. * Trains and provides guidance and direction to staff. Assists Unit Manager with appraising the performance of assigned Account Manager trainee. * Possesses a positive, service-oriented attitude toward agencies, insureds, and employees within the company. Education and/or Experience: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; college degree preferred. * Minimum of 5 years related work experience and/or training required. * An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience will be considered.
