Full description of the position
Sales/Service Application Specialist We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sales/Service Application Specialist to join our team. This role is dedicated to supporting and growing our field service division by developing and managing quotes for service opportunities across a range of industrial systems. This includes instrumentation, air systems (compressors and dryers), calibrations, service outages, valves, gas detection components and systems, heat trace installation, and ongoing service contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or industrial engineering, combined with experience in quoting technical services and managing customer expectations through to project completion. Quoting & Proposal Development (Field Services Focus) * Work closely with sales, service, and engineering teams to develop detailed, accurate, and timely quotes and proposals for a variety of field service opportunities, including: * Instrumentation and calibration services * Air compressor and dryer maintenance and repairs * Emergency service outages and planned maintenance * Turn-key heat trace system installations * Gas detection systems and components * Valve service and replacement * Customized service contracts * Ensure all technical specifications, scope of work, pricing, and service terms are clearly defined and aligned with customer requirements and internal standards. * Present proposals to clients, provide technical explanations, and revise scopes based on client feedback and site-specific requirements. * Support negotiation of contract terms while maintaining company profitability and ensuring high customer satisfaction. Technical Applications & Field Support * Provide application knowledge and field support for a broad range of systems supported by the service team, especially during quoting and project planning stages. * Review customer systems and service histories to recommend appropriate service strategies, system upgrades, or predictive/preventative maintenance packages. * Assist in developing custom solutions based on customer-specific configurations or operational needs. Project Coordination * Support execution of quoted services, ensuring seamless handoff to service teams once quotes are approved. * Coordinate internal resources, vendors, and service technicians to ensure timelines and budgets are met for field service projects. * Maintain communication with clients throughout project execution to ensure expectations are met and any changes are documented. Service Contract Oversight * Develop and manage service contracts including scope definition, renewals, and performance tracking. * Act as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams for contract-related services and troubleshooting. * Identify opportunities to upsell or expand service agreements based on customer needs and asset conditions. Technical Troubleshooting & Feedback * Provide front-line technical support for troubleshooting issues related to instrumentation, air systems, valves, and other serviced equipment. * Relay recurring customer challenges or equipment performance data back to engineering and service managers for continuous improvement. Documentation & Reporting * Maintain organized records of quotes, proposals, contract documentation, and customer interactions. * Create regular reports detailing quote status, service project progression, contract renewals, and client engagement activities. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in related Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a 5+ years in a related role. * Minimum of 5 years' experience in an applications engineering, field service, or technical quoting role preferably with industrial equipment focus. * Familiarity with air compressors, dryers, instrumentation, calibration procedures, gas detection systems, valves, and related equipment. * Strong understanding of service operations, scope development, and proposal writing. * Proven experience supporting or managing service contracts and service-based project execution. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quoting/project management tools (CRM, ERP, etc.). * Excellent communication, customer service, and technical problem-solving skills. * Comfortable working in a customer-facing role with both internal teams and external clients.
