Full description of the position
Job Summary The Sales Manager is responsible for attainment of assigned goals that are tied to the overall performance of the hotel. The individual will be responsible for effectively soliciting and booking room nights into the hotel. The Sales Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Sales to achieve the hotel's revenue and market share goals for the property. The focus of this position will be to handle groups that are 75 - 115 room on peak from the Corporate and SMERF segments. Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities; for OEM associates, overtime does apply and is calculated accordingly. *Education & Experience * High School diploma or equivalent required and must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state. * 3 - 4 years of hotel sales experience in handling and booking business from the Corporate and SMERF markets. * Must possess developed verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients. * Experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing * Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office products * Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, strong organization and presentation skills * Willingness to travel and attend events as needed. *Job Duties & Functions * Proactively source and secure group business (e.g., corporate meetings, conferences) through cold calling, networking, attending industry events, and following up on leads. * Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts with clients to meet revenue goals. * Maintain existing client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals. * Conduct site tours for prospective clients and communicate the hotel's offerings and services. * Collaborate with the convention services team to ensure the successful execution of group bookings. * Forecast group sales revenue and report on performance against contracted room and banquet revenue. * Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and client interactions by inputting timely comments into the CRM system. * Stay current on market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities. * Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and sales missions. * Work with the revenue management team to optimize pricing strategies for group business. * May assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions relating to direct sales segments i.e. sales blitzes, etc. * Attend daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management.
