The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) is the leading professional organization representing podiatrists in the United States. Dedicated to advancing foot and ankle health, APMA provides advocacy, education, and resources to support its members in delivering high-quality patient care. The association promotes research, public awareness, and professional development to enhance the field of podiatric medicine. Through its commitment to excellence and innovation, APMA works to improve healthcare policies, foster collaboration within the medical community, and elevate the role of podiatrists in the broader healthcare system. Position Summary We are looking for an energetic and results-driven Sales Representative with a focus on business development to join our team at APMA. In this role, you will be responsible for driving revenue by cross-selling, identifying new business opportunities, cultivating relationships, and promoting the association's offerings, including, but not limited to our Seal Program, the Coding Resource Center, membership, seminars, and webinars. The ideal candidate will have a passion for relationship building, revenue growth, and a commitment to enhancing the association's position amongst members and in the marketplace. This role is a hybrid position with the expectation to work from the APMA Headquarters in Rockville, MD a minimum of subject to change as determined by the department lead). Key Responsibilities: * Cross-Selling: Deliver value to members by promoting lesser-known products and services, while driving non-dues revenue growth for these offerings. * Business Development & Lead Generation: Proactively identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities by researching potential clients, partners, and sponsors. Utilize various channels such as cold calling, networking, social media, and industry events to generate leads and build a robust sales pipeline. * Partnerships & Strategic Alliances: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with external organizations, associations, and businesses to enhance membership benefits, sponsorship opportunities, and event offerings. * Knowledge: Proactively explore and learn APMA's member services, products, and partnership opportunities to confidently communicate their benefits. * Sales & Promotion: Sell and promote the association's products and services, including Seal, membership, events, sponsorships, and educational programs, to new and existing clients. Ensure prospects understand the full scope of offerings and benefits. * Customer Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with existing members, partners, and clients through personalized service, regular follow-ups, and providing value-driven solutions. * Networking & Community Engagement: Attend industry events and conferences to network, create awareness, and explore potential collaboration opportunities. Represent the association in a professional manner at all times, seeking new opportunities for growth. * Sales Presentations: Deliver compelling sales presentations to prospective clients and partners, clearly outlining the benefits and value of joining the association. Negotiate terms, pricing, and agreements to close sales and meet or exceed sales targets. * Market Research & Trend Analysis: Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor offerings, and market demands to effectively position the association's products and services. Conduct market research to understand the needs of potential members and clients, adapting sales strategies accordingly. * Sales Strategy Development: Provide insights on market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to help shape future business development initiatives. * Event Support & Promotion: Actively promote association events to potential attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors. Work closely with the team to ensure that opportunities for sponsorship and partnership are maximized. * Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of sales activity, lead status, and client interactions using CRM systems (IMIS). Provide regular sales reports to management, highlighting progress against goals and identifying areas for improvement. Required Skills and Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Minimum of 2 years of successful sales or business development experience required, preferably within a membership-based organization or association. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with stakeholders at all levels, including executives and senior decision-makers. * Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills, with the ability to influence and persuade. * Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems. * Experience with iMIS software a plus. * Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, events, and membership teams, to achieve business development goals. * Willingness to travel as needed to meet potential clients, partners, and attend industry events. * Background in event sales, business development, or marketing within the association sector. * Ability to work in a results-oriented environment, with a focus on both short-term wins and long-term business growth. * Knowledge of industry trends, competitive offerings, and market dynamics relevant to the association's services is a plus.
