Full description of the position

We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic SMERF Sales Manager to join our team at theWestin Crystal City at Reagan National Airport. The SMERF Sales Manager will develop and execute sales strategies to target and maximize revenue from SMERF market segments. This role will focus on cultivating lasting relationships, generating new business, and ensuring excellent service delivery for groups within weddings, social, religious, education, fraternity, and tour and travel markets. Job Responsibilities: * Develop and execute targeted sales strategies for the SMERF market segment. * Actively prospect new business through a variety of methods including outside sales calls, emails, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, networking, etc. Maintain a healthy pipeline of leads and ensure consistent conversion of opportunities into bookings. * Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients to generate repeat business. * Collaborate cross functionally to ensure seamless event execution and client satisfaction. * Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel's business plan objectives. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met. * Stay current on NOVA/DC competitive landscape and market trends to maximize revenue. * Coordinate and participate in target market trade shows and sales blitzes. * Monitor competitor activity in the SMERF market. Conduct competitive analysis adjusting strategy accordingly. * Other duties as assigned. * Job Skills: * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sales software. * Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks; strong organizational and presentation skills. * Must be able to negotiate group room rates, meeting room rental, function space and hotel services within approved booking guidelines. * Must possess developed verbal and written communication skills to negotiate, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guests and corporate clients. * Strong analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel. Physical Requirements: * Stand for long periods of time * Walk extended distances * Lift/carry 6-25 lbs. * Able to work overtime and irregular hours Working Conditions: * Continually works in normal office conditions and in close proximity to others. Education - Associates Degree in Sales &Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred. Experience - Minimum 2 years hotel sales experience or the equivalent amount of industry experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and work experience.
