Full description of the position
Jesuit Refugee Service/USA Jesuit Refugee Service/USA (JRS/USA) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for refugees and forcibly displaced persons. JRS works in more than 57 countries worldwide to meet the educational, health, psycho-social and emergency needs of more than 800,000 refugees and other forcibly displaced persons regardless of race, ethnic origin or religious beliefs. Job Description Reporting to the VP of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Account Manager provides oversight and high-level analysis of JRS/USA accounts, including processes for accounts payable, receivable, payroll, including day-to-day accounting. Responsibilities * Oversee and analyze monthly and annual financial closing, ensuring accurate accounting and providing analysis on spending trends and issue spotting. * Oversee monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations. * Oversee accounts receivable and payable. * Analyzing revenue streams in close consultation with finance and development teams. * Oversee payroll, working with finance staff and Operations / HR Staff. * Manage resolution of issues related to payroll systems, and employee benefits including 401(k), FSA, and HSA contributions. * Coordinate and take the lead on workers' compensation and retirement plan audits, ensuring timely submission of required documentation. * Work alongside the VP of Finance to prepare for audits and Form 990 filings, leading the management of specific components of the process, ensuring accuracy and compliance. * Oversee multi-state and federal tax and compliance inquiries and reports. * Oversee federal grant budgets, budget narratives and financial reports. * Oversee accounting and finance files and archives, according to retention policy. * Participate in other projects, assignments and administrative tasks, as needed. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA or master's degree highly preferred. * Minimum 7 yearsin accounting/finance with a focus on accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting. * Experience with non-profit financial statements (e.g., statement of activities, statement of functional expenses) and understanding the nuances of fund accounting. * Experience with accounts payable and receivable, and with a focus on payroll processing, including managing payroll systems, employee benefits, and deductions. * Knowledge of accounting standards for U.S. non-profit organizations and GAAP. * Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other communication and project management software. * Experience with Sage Intacct and Paylocity preferred, and with other accounting and payroll systems required (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar systems). * Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to spot issues early and provide solutions (especially important in payroll and tax compliance). * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop key working relationships. * Authorized to work in the U.S. JRS/USA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any person because of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by the law.
