Full description of the position
Pay Range: Commissioned-based Summary: Responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting and selling new insurance products by assessing client needs, evaluating appropriate recommendations and placing coverage to address risks in a cost effective and timely manner. Responsible for servicing and retaining existing customer accounts. Producer must maintain all required licenses required to quote and write insurance products. Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.* * Develop marketing strategies to promote and sell all lines of insurance products to potential clients including banking customers. * Seek out new clients and develop new clientele by networking to generate list of prospective clients. Solicit referrals from Banterra Bank and existing clients. * Develop relationships with prospective clients, assess client needs by inspecting current coverage, risk management plans, property, products and records. Develop risk management proposal consisting of loss control, alternate retention plans and self-insurance. Facilitate presentations and conduct client and prospect appointments. Close the insurance process when products meet prospective client needs. Maintain visibility on an annual basis by phone or mail. * Develop formal proposals including detail of coverage, limits, deductibles and other data. Review and proof proposals for completeness and maintain records of proposals made. Explain details of proposal and close sale. * Review company quotations, risk management and service plans, clients' needs and priorities and select appropriate market(s). Check company issued policies for accuracy informing company and client of errors. * Maintain and review expiration date files for insurance policies and other information. * Collect detail underwriting information including and loss history. Maintain knowledge of company underwriting criteria and agency marketing policy. Negotiate with company underwriters. * Complete all automated ACCORD and specialty applications. * Refer clients and prospective clients to the appropriate segment or product specialists within the company. * As appropriate, introduce other company team members and/or customer service representatives to clients and inform customer what service and assistance these individuals can perform. * Include all pertinent information on all insurance applications submitted to ensure that all applications submitted are accurately and thoroughly completed. * Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of application screens, agency systems, workflow, procedures and automation needs. * Ensure all applicable policies and procedures are followed regarding operations, compliance and code of ethics by maintaining the confidentiality of prospect and customer information. * Maintain a professional level of awareness of insurance trends, regulations and developments affecting clients and prospective clients. * Complete all continuing education requirements mandated by the State Insurance Commissioner. Education/Experience: * Current IL Insurance license and non-resident licenses where applicable. * Two years of experience in commercial insurance production, service or underwriting or three years of experience in personal lines production. * Must demonstrate strong sales skills. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies, outside auditors and accountants, Board of Directors or other members of management. * Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers or vendors. * Must have excellent communication skills. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. * Must understand and comply with company policies and procedures. * Must have the ability to maintain a friendly, helpful and courteous attitude when working with customers or co-workers under diverse conditions. * Must have strong sales, marketing and presentation skills. * Must have strong relationship building skills. * Must have the ability to accurately and quickly complete standard mathematical calculations. * Ability to use a calculator, computer and applicable software.
