Full description of the position

Pugsley Services is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Territory Manager/Field Sales Representative to spearhead the sales efforts of our innovative, environmentally safe (green) alternative to chemical asphalt sealants. This role will focus on SLED, primarily State and Local Departments of Transportation (DOTs), construction companies, and property management companies across Missouri. As a Territory Manager, you will be responsible for actively seeking out and engaging prospective customers, building strong client and distributor relationships, and driving sales growth in the Missouri Territory. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully selling to DOTs and experience with selling to the construction or infrastructure industry.


Territory: Missouri. The candidate will reside locally and work in the territory or surrounding areas
50%+ Travel inside the territory
Company vehicle will be provided.
Benefits: 401K, Healthcare supplement benefit negotiable
Compensation: Base plus commissions (No cap on commissions)

Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting: Research SLED (State, Local & Education) RFPs and permits to identify opportunities for our product. Contact commercial property and community association managers, as well as Universities, Medical facilities, and other large properties. to identify opportunities.
  • Sales Development: Identify and target potential customers within the Missouri territory through proactive prospecting, outreach, networking, and leveraging existing industry contacts. Manage leads through the sales cycle with planned and up-to-date follow-up.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with customers by understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and providing optimal solutions, fostering trust and loyalty.
  • RFPs and Proposals: Respond to public and private RFPs and develop proposals. Work with channel to develop responses to RFPs and proposals for their opportunities.
  • Channel Management: Support channel sales by developing relationships, staying ahead of bidding opportunities, supporting their sales efforts, providing training, and solving problems.
  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to meet and exceed sales targets. Continuously analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  • Travel and Territory Management: Extensive travel within Missouri to visit clients, attend trade shows, and participate in industry events. Effectively manage the territory to maximize sales opportunities and minimize travel-related expenses.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Coordinate with internal teams, especially production. Leverage the marketing team from the manufacturer. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of upcoming and past sales activities, customer interactions, and sales forecasts.


Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in outside sales, preferably within the construction, infrastructure, surfacing or related industries.
  • Success selling directly or through a channel into a complex selling situation with long sales cycles and multiple buyers.
  • Understand the process of selling to local and state DOTs as well as commercial entities.
  • Relationships in Missouri DOTs a plus.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently to achieve sales goals.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within Missouri.


Education and Experience

  • College Degree a plus
  • Minimum of 3years of successful outside sales experience or equivalent experience.
  • Channel sales experience
  • Experience responding to SLED RFPs.
  • Experience selling a new product in a new market with limited brand awareness.
