Swahili Coast is a growing North Carolina based company working in partnership with artisan co-operatives in East Africa. We have store locations in downtown Wilmington and in downtown Asheville, as well as offices and fulfillment in downtown Wilmington. We are open to both full and part time candidates, and can adjust job responsibilities accordingly.
We are looking for candidates that are sales oriented, with excellent communication and sales skills, as well as comfort with organization and implementing systems for other staff members. We are seeking team members ready to tell the story of our partner co-operatives in East Africa and their ethically made products! Retail or sales experience is required to be considered for this position, with a strong preference for experience in fashion/gift/boutique environments. If you have management experience, all the better!

Basic Responsibilities:
- In-store retail sales
- Scheduling for the retail store
- Maintaining store inventory through inventory requests to our warehouse
- Maintaining an accurate point of sale system
- Supporting staff training
- Merchandising the store
Potential Additional Responsibilities:
- Wholesale account sales and relationship management
- Retail management for additional store locations
- Event planning and execution
- Marketing via email and social media
- Hiring/training new staff members
We are a company built on fair trade principles that does direct trade with our artisan partners in Tanzania and Kenya. Successful candidates will have communication skills to tell our brand story, and sales skills to close sales.
Starting wage is dependent on experience/responsibilities, but we are open to both salaried and hourly pay, with additional commission. Some of our staff members average over $20/hr with strong sales. We're flexible and we're growing, and we'd love to work with folks who want to grow with us.
