BIA has been serving the Oregon health and life insurance market for over 30 years with the Sales team playing a vital role in building a highly trusted brand.
As we look toward taking our brand into other markets, we are seeking a motivated and results-driven Salesperson to join our team. As a Health & Life Insurance Salesperson, you will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and building strong client relationships.
This position offers an initial base salary of $45,000 to $60,000, which varies based on your sales experience and insurance license status. This base salary acts as a safety net ensuring the salesperson has a consistent income during the first 6-month training and Onboarding period. The base salary will be reduced by one-third every 12 months, for 3 years, as you build your sales book and earn commissions.
Eligible employees enjoy a generous benefits package of annual paid time off, 10 paid volunteer hours, 14 paid company holidays, over $6,000 toward health benefits as well as fully funded employee dental insurance, disability, and life insurance on the first of the month following successful completion of their sixty-day probationary period.
In addition, the option to participate in a company-matching Simple IRA Plan is available following two years of employment. An Annual Incentive Bonus is rewarded upon revenue goals being met; eligibility requirements apply.
Duties/Responsibilities
Achieve sales targets and contribute to overall company growth.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Contact prospective and current clients about insurance products and policies.
Explain insurance policies and products to prospective and current clients;
guide clients in selecting coverage to best meet their needs.
Suggest modifications and updates to clients insurance policies.
Build custom insurance policies and packages to meet clients needs.
Process insurance policy enrollments and renewals.
Effectively follow established processes.
Maintain print and electronic records as required following CMS and HIPAA requirements.
Build relationships with insurance carriers and local business partners.
Attend trainings as assigned by Sales Team Lead.
Extensive knowledge of various insurance products and policies.
Maintain timely and accurate notes and records for all client and prospect transactions in BIA CRM.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Proven track record in sales or a strong desire to learn and excel in a sales role.
Active insurance license (preferred but not required); ability to obtain Health & Life Insurance license within 2 months required.
Ability to determine the best insurance policy for individual clients.
Comfortable processing paperwork ensuring data is accurate and HIPAA guidelines are always followed.
Advanced computer skills, including MS Teams, Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook, and CRM.
Comfortable learning new computer technology.
Excellent ability to read and comprehend written and spoken English.
Ability to clearly explain the details and implications of coverages to clients.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic and competitive environment.
Basic math skills required.
High school diploma or equivalent degree required; college coursework preferred.
Must pass credit check, drug screen, and background check.
