SUMMARY:
The Commercial Lines Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for working in conjunction with the CL Operations Manager to provide supervision to all assigned commercial lines colleagues, ensuring customer satisfaction, as well as planning, organizing, quality standards, and operating activities within the branch. The CL Assistant Operations Manager performs various functions, including some accounting, as well as duties as an Account Executive and/or Account Manager, as needed, aiding both internal and external customers requiring service assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in developing strategies to accomplish and support the INSURICA branch action plan; implement and monitor those strategies with the CL Operations Manager
- Supervise the daily activities of office colleagues; monitor and evaluate productivity of assigned staff; manage employee PTO and professional/educational time to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
- Work with the CL Operations Manager to prepare and deliver performance feedback and evaluations on a timely basis
- Assist the CL Operations Manager in developing and implementing formal training programs to increase the knowledge, skills, and backup responsibilities of the staff
- Assist with the development of workflows, procedures, and policies and monitor implementation within the branch; perform audits to identify any issues; evaluate, update, and report to the CL Operations Manager regarding branch issues, such as workflow, personnel, etc.
- Continuously run, and monitor, reports to identify problems, ensure timelines are being adhered to, prevent E&O issues, and maintain the desired customer experience
- Address and resolve staff issues; foster good morale within the office by displaying a positive demeanor and promoting a team concept environment, as well as individual excellence and achievement
- Conduct periodic meetings to inform, obtain input, and train staff on procedures, current developments, etc.
- Respond to phone calls from clients and comply with requests, keeping producers informed; manage difficult customer or claims situations with staff where warranted
- Market business, contact clients when needed, create proposals, and handle all activities in conjunction with the producer to service clients assigned to the position; keep producers informed of important activities on their accounts
- Maintain relationships with appropriate company representatives through proper contacts and effective communication; remain informed as to market availability and competitive markets as well as continuously expand knowledge of markets, sharing your knowledge with the department and producers
- Perform all actions relating to customers and companies in a manner that will avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions
- Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
- Strong knowledge of insurance underwriting procedures
- Strong knowledge of rating procedures, coverage, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write customer accounts
- Ability to maximize staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; encouraging and supporting professional development; coordinating and ensuring effective utilization of systems; ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and productivity standards
- Strong PC skills, with a focus on the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and the ability to effectively utilize the Agencys management systems
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
- Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed
- Regular and punctual attendance is required
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
- Ability to promote, and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
- Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 57 Years previous commercial lines insurance service experience preferred
- 24 Years of previous supervisory experience preferred
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Possession of, or the ability to quickly obtain, all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance required
- CPCU or CIC designations preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
- Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
