Summary: In the Outside Sales Representative role, You should be able to promote the companys products and services to potential customers in your assigned territory. Also, you should be able to conduct in-depth research and identify any new business opportunities.
You should also be able to provide excellent customer service and the ability to resolve any queries in a timely manner. Moreover, you should be able to develop and implement effective sales techniques and strategies. As a part of this job role, you should also be able to conduct surveys to understand consumer behavior.
As a Outside Sales Representative, you should be familiar with the industry processes and developments. Furthermore, you should be deadline-driven and have the ability to handle stressful situations. A proven work experience in the Sales department will be advantageous.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a point of contact for existing and potential customers within assigned territory
Identify local business opportunities and challenges
Report on regional sales results (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually)
Present our products and services to prospective customers
Identify customer needs and recommend product solutions
Work closely with salespeople and other internal teams to meet individual and group sales quotas
Answer customer questions about features, pricing and additional services
Cross-sell products, when appropriate
Observes competitor strategies within the assigned region
Collaborate with sales representatives from different territories to share best practices and support a cohesive sales approach
Cultivate strong working relationships with customers
Conduct a minimum of 10 sales presentations per week by physical visits to customer locations
Penetrate all targeted accounts and radiate sales from within designated region
Overcome objections of prospective customers
Emphasize product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports
Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth
Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary
Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner
Actively manage call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner
Maintain and submit accurate records; including sales call reports, expense reimbursement forms, billing invoices, and other documentation as directed by manager
Create RFQ responses to existing customer base and potential clients
Prepare PO for customers indicating best vendor pricing and communicate to customer
Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research
Stay current on market pricing of various products and communicate to management and customers

Education and/or Experience:
HS Diploma or GED; 2 year technical or Associates Degree or combination of work experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of direct work experience in an external sales capacity
Prefer industry experience in external sales within the Solar market
Demonstrated solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-visit planning, call control, account development, and time and territory management
Demonstrated success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers
Communication Skills:
Professional and effective written and oral communication
Exemplary customer service skills
Strong initiative and ability to work independently
Demonstrated work ethic, integrity and professional conduct
Mathematical Skills:
Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures, percentages and prepare quotes
Computer Skills:
Familiar with inventory control and order entry software applications
Proficient in MS Office applications
Email and phone etiquette
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Frequent travel is required, often up to several hours of driving per day
Ability to travel to, attend, and conduct presentations
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs
Overtime as required
Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
