Job Summary:
The Distribution Sales Manager is tasked to manage and grow companys dealer network and responsible for meeting company annual sales targets. Work with the commercial director to implement the sales strategy and direct the day-to-day activities of the sales and distribution teams. Develop sales techniques, policies, tactics, and action plans to allow the company to achieve its financial goals while providing outstanding sales and customer support to consumers, retailers, and distributors. Constantly analyze dealer network to achieve sales targets and enhance sales potential on an account by account basis. Work with the Commercial Director to assure inventory levels to support sales objectives. Work with distribution to assure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sales Activities
- Implement the sales strategy for the company as outlined by the commercial director to achieve the sales plan including wholesale, retail and on-line sales
- Manage and oversee the activities and personnel of the sales and customer service office as outlined by the Commercial director
- Work with existing and new accounts to educate them about company product lines and help them maximize their sales potential and assure they are stocking the correct product mix for the racing segments and customers served
- Work with the Commercial director to review dealer accounts on a quarterly and annual basis to assure they are meeting their annual purchase requirements, inform them when they are under performing or will qualify for the next price tier and work with the Commercial director to develop strategies to help accounts increase their sales
- Produce monthly sales reports for the commercial director to compare current period performance with prior year sales for sales reporting purposes and for analysis
- Responsible for increasing dealer sales through consistent communication with key accounts. Provide product training, technical support, answer product questions and analyze product sales data
- Become fluent in company products and procedures and provide training to sales and motorsports personnel
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the sales teams and its personnel, leading and motivating the staff to meet sales objectives.
- Assure all orders from retail customers (in-store, web, event) and dealer orders are entered accurately with the proper sales tax collected (as required) and sales personnel are communicating with clients, confirming orders and distribution is shipping them in a timely manner
- Work with the commercial director to assign sales personnel to manage accounts as the primary point of contact
- Work with the commercial director to develop company sales strategies, policies, tactics, action plans and operational procedures and assure they are executed effectively in a timely manner
- Provide feedback and information to the commercial director and management and suggest adjustments in strategies, policies and tactics to enhance sales opportunities
- Work with the commercial director to define terms and conditions, discount levels and provide market feedback to help establish product retail price levels
- Administer all dealer agreements with the assistance of the sale staff, assure all information is current including a copy of their sales tax certificate is on file.
- Work with accounting and finance to approve open terms for accounts, monitor accounts receivables (AR), and work with the sales staff to determine when to suspend shipments for past due balances or non-payment and assist with collections as needed
- Develop and implement pre-season and incentive programs to encourage accounts to place large stocking orders and commit to annual volume target numbers with the focus on increasing yearly sales.
- Assure that all retail and distributor clients comply with the companys commercial policies including pricing, terms and conditions and advertising policies including MAP
- Provide sales and market information to the commercial director to assure the company has the right product mix, supply and stock levels to meet sales objectives including products to display and sell in the Companys retail stores
- Work with the sales staff to identify backorders and work with company personnel to expedite delivery to fulfill backorders in a timely manner to provide good customer service and reduce the likelihood of cancelation
- Oversee the custom product order process for dealers and work with sales and support staff in coordinating artwork, approvals, product orders and deliveries. Assure the company receives proper measurements and instructions for all custom products
- Provide feedback and suggestions to the commercial director on new products to add to the line and modifications to existing products based on consumer and dealer feedback
- Monitor competitor product lines, pricing, sales tactics and business practices, providing customer and dealers insight to the commercial director to evaluate changes to the product and commercial strategy
- Coordinate dealer mailings, information updates and other communication. Maintain customer contact information including e-mail addresses
- Update and maintain price sheets and retail and discount pricing in the ERP system
- Research potential dealers and assist the commercial director with other new business projects
Customer Service
- Assure the sales staff is answering customer questions and coordinate technical support services to external clients
- Help troubleshoot customer issues and provide a resolution
- Responsible for making sure e-mail inquiries are responded to in a timely manner by the sales staff
Warehouse, Distribution & Purchasing
- Work with distribution center to assure orders are processed and shipped accurately and in a timely manner
- Work with management and company personnel to assure purchase orders are placed for products based on the sales and inventory plan established by the commercial director
- Assist the company with the purchase order process including submitting approved product purchase orders with vendors as needed while following company guidelines, sales forecast, stock levels and inventory budget
Website & Marketing Support
- Assist with updating dealer, consumer pricing information on Companys website
- Oversee the B2B order entry process and inventory levels on Companys website.
- Assist in the development of dealer support materials, training programs and sales promotional activities
- Assist in developing advertising and marketing materials as required
Dealer Support
- Work with the commercial director to determine the budget for dealer support including in-store displays
- Provide feedback to the commercial director and make recommendations on supporting dealers with in-store displays and other point of sale materials. Work with individual dealers to assure in-store displays comply with brand guidelines
- Work with the sales team to provide technical and product training to dealers and highlight suggestions to the commercial director on materials and resources to provide to dealers to enhance the understanding of their sales staff to increase sales
Skills & Experience
- BS/BA in business related studies preferred.
- 6 years of sales or customer service experience required sales management experience preferred
- Understanding of the racing industry and safety equipment products preferred
- English as the first language and knowledge of Spanish preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Leadership, coaching and team building skills
- Analytical with the ability to problem solve
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
- Proficient in Windows-based applications including MS Word and Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks, Enterprise Solutions or similar ERP system a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
