Full description of the position

Job Summary:

The Cannabis Regional Retail Sales Director will be responsible for the strategic direction and successful tactical execution of all aspects of retail store operations for the Sacramento Region. Through managing your teams, you ensure that all company objectives are met at the store level, including the achievement of sales, labor plans, customer experience, visual and brand execution, and controllable expenses. You provide leadership and direction to each Manager and store teams to create an environment that ensures customer satisfaction, maximum productivity, and profitability by translating and implementing company and brand developed business plans and strategies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains store managers.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of store managers.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall sales and expense results by store. Reports on results and leads the execution through the Managers to enhance field performance in the areas of sales generation & KPI, cost controls, team development, visual & brand management, and superior customer experience. Recognizing performance and coaching for improvement.
  • Sets and maintains the standards for identifying and developing talent, ensuring that District Managers and field employees are qualified and perform to company standards. Provides feedback and training which enhances employee engagement and supports overall performance.
  • Serves as liaison between the field organization and corporate office. Providing feedback from the field on product, visual presentation, competitive landscape, local market knowledge, brand & marketing initiatives, human resources, loss prevention, and any other areas that impact field operations.
  • Communicates, directs, and ensures seamless execution of all corporate initiatives at the field level.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, loss prevention, inventory control standards, store maintenance, human resources, and safety issues. Provides or recommends training in certain areas where appropriate.
  • Communicates with the Management teams on a regular basis and provides a clear direction regarding retail business issues and Company objectives. Schedules regular announced and unannounced visits to each store and maintains relationships with employees at all levels reinforcing the open-door management philosophy.
  • Provides leadership, oversees retail activities and stores.
  • Reviews and analyzes regional sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and to identify potential new markets.
  • Collaborates with store managers to develop sales goals for each location, monitors progress toward those goals, and develops strategies to attract and retain customers.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in the store; designs and implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale.
  • Schedules and directs regular sales meetings and events to share information, set and revise goals, and to increase morale.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop territories, sales quotas, and strategies.
  • Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Years of Professional Experience: 5-10 years
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales and profit expectations of performance & contribution.
  • Proven ability to meet current and future business goals through continuous identification and development of field leadership & store teams.
  • Proven ability to plan and work independently while balancing shifting priorities and delivering on performance expectations.
  • Proven ability to build and leverage strategic business relationships, as well as the ability to create alternative approaches that increase the company’s ROI.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to influence business partners at all levels.
  • Excellent decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent math skills to draft and implement budgets and conduct data analysis.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedules to meet the needs of the business; will require weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Thorough understanding of company’s products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors in the surrounding market.
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and software programs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field; OR
  • Extensive experience as Regional sales manager required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Bend, lift, open, and move product up to 50 pounds as needed. Frequent standing & sitting required.
  • Must be able to regularly travel throughout region.
