Job Title: Technical Sales Specialist

Department: Channel Sales (Wholesale)

Manager: Regional Sales Manager (Wholesale)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Remote within Territory

OVERVIEW

Interested in utilizing your technical knowledge and partnering with the Sales Team? Do you have a passion for helping customers solve challenging problems, some that they do not even know they have?

Fortress Building Products is hiring a Technical Sales Specialist to support the Total Fortress Solution which includes Fortress: Fence, Railing, Deck/Composites, and Framing/Pergola. In this role, you will be the technical voice in our sales process helping customers understand the value of the Total Fortress Solution. You will support the customer as a problem solver and solutions provider, demonstrating the value of Fortress Brands from a technical and installation perspective. You will provide product feedback to manufacturing and engineering based on your interaction with customers and on-site experience. You will work to ensure the customer is successful and gains an appropriate comfort level from the first time they use our products. You will conduct internal and external training sessions, webinars, product knowledge/training sessions, and assist in installation of high profile and new user projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Win the trust of sales team and customers by demonstrating technical and business acumen.
  • Master and teach how to sell and install Fortress Brand Categories: from high-level product training through technical deep dives and demonstrations, knowing how to gracefully maneuver back-and-forth based on the audience.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and professional consultant, providing solutions to distributors, dealers, and most importantly builders.
  • Identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short and long-term sales.
  • Identify new sales targets, market segments, and sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Innovations Team and Product Managers to improve the product lines and continue to look for future product opportunities.

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements

  • A degree in business, product management, or construction is preferred
  • At least 3+ years of outside sales desired
  • Previous construction/installation experience a plus
  • Knowledge of applicable installation techniques and best practices
  • Up to date on knowledge of applicable building codes
  • Strong interpersonal skills that build long-term relationships with clients and communicate verbally and in writing with other sales team members and technical workers
  • Excellent customer interfacing abilities and drive to positively influence others
  • Ability to pioneer an innovative new product and successfully promote the value
  • Wherewithal to work well under pressure and manage difficult situations
  • Excellent ability to quickly understand and identify technical and business opportunities
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout the sales territory (up to 70%)
