Job Summary

Independent Insurance Agency in Wilmington, NC is looking for an experienced property and casualty personal lines professional to join our team! As the Personal Lines Insurance Director, you will supervise all activities related to the operations of the department, continuously looking to improve the client experience and the workflows associated with delivering excellent customer service. You will also support the sales function of the department by leading and developing the team, including mentoring, coaching, and motivating its personnel. This role will oversee multiple office locations including Wilmington, Leland, Southport, Jacksonville, and Myrtle Beach with approximately 20 personal lines team members.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and develop the capabilities of the team in a manner that enhances the agency's image and level of service to clients and carriers; regularly evaluate department teammates in relation to workload, skills, insurance coverage, and technology knowledge.
• Ensure department internal compliance standards are adhered to with all processes and procedures related but not limited to client disclosure requirements, policies, and endorsement processing.
• Identify areas of opportunities and develop strategies for improvement within the department.
• Develop and implement a learning program for department teammates with a focus on insurance coverage knowledge, carrier products and services, and department procedures.
• Maintain strong relationships with carrier partners to provide a benefit to the department, as it relates to optimizing products and services.
• Identify, design, and implement service, marketing, and sales strategies for continued growth of the department inclusive of opportunities to cross sell and round out coverage.
• Communicate new opportunities, trends, and carrier information to all members of the team.
• Review and prepare monthly analyses to measure progress in achieving department objectives.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in personal lines insurance managing a book of business at an agency with 1-3 years of experience supervising and leading a team.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current NC Property and Casualty license required; professional designations preferred.
• Tech savvy with the ability to navigate multiple systems including Agency Management Software; intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products; Applied EPIC knowledge preferred.
• This position will work primarily in the Wilmington office with travel expected approximately 5 days per month to work in the other office locations; no overnight travel is expected.

Salary Range

• Negotiable, depending on professional experience.
