Today, Intellijoint technology lives in the operating room, helping surgeons improve implant positioning during hip and knee replacement surgeries. We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager to join our Mid-West & South Central USA team to continue to help expand our innovative technologies in the market.
The Position
As a Regional Sales Manager with Intellijoint Surgical, you take pride in leading others to achieve greater things than they thought. This is a fast-paced position where you must lead from the front: you have the experience to work within the orthopedic surgery field and know how to coach others to quickly identify and establish relationships with surgeons and hospital administrative personnel. The Regional Sales Manager, Mid-West & South Central will oversee our Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO and Houston, TX sales pods.
As a snapshot, we are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in full management of a team, including management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the department's future needs and operations, counseling employees on performance, and contributing to employee pay decisions or changes.
- Adept at contributing and achieving results through others. As this is a leadership role, the individual is responsible for managing subordinates and/or managing through subordinates' managers to achieve revenue growth goals.
- Influential and persuasive, with experience leading teams to acquire new business in the medical technology, medical device, and/or orthopedics market.
- An organized, self-starter that understands there is a process and structure to achieving solid results.
Main Duties:
- The ability to recruit, hire, and retain professional and hard-working sales professionals for each selling pod and/or business development team within the Region.
- Lead and/or manage complex selling activities involving multiple decision makers and teams of buyers, this includes activities such as generating leads, making sales calls, identifying decision makers, influencing change in customers, and gaining/renewing hospital contract approvals.
- Provide ongoing performance management, mentorship, and development of the team. Drive business results by working closely with your team to set and achieve territory objectives while driving patient care and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain Target Pipeline list, translating into Quarterly Business Review/Forecast for management team
- Become technically proficient and provide surgical case coverage to ensure the safe and effective use of Intellijoint Surgical’s technology. This includes providing training to hospital staff and delivery/set-up of instruments and systems
- Establish and maintain communication with peers and sales management through Intellijoint’s CRM tools.
- Establish strategic communication with Marketing and Research & Development to convey customer feedback and provide insights into new opportunities and/or programs for growth.
- Maintain, track, and effectively deploy equipment and assets throughout the assigned area, ensuring product availability. Ensure all promotional materials are maintained in a presentable manner. Ensure Intellijoint Surgical’s products and offerings meet the highest quality standards.
Skills and Experience to Enable Success:
- Experience working in the medical device, medical technology or orthopaedics industry.
- 6+ years of sales experience with at least 2+ years of sales management experience that demonstrates a consistent track record of exceeding targets.
- Experience being present in an Operating Room or cadaver environment is an asset
- Act as a role model to selling colleagues and actively participate in maintaining a culture of selling excellence.
- Skilled in business communications, sales presentations, influencing without formal authority, and the ability to understand and articulate the value of the company’s products in both clinical and economic terms.
- Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to use a methodical approach to selling within unique hospital and surgical settings.
- Ability to make thoughtful, independent decisions in fast-paced, high-stress situations
- Ability to use different methods as a means of gaining access.
- Ability to navigate challenges and understand roadblocks and “no” answers while adapting to these responses.
- Strong technical aptitude, including mental math and trigonometry
- A basic knowledge of anatomy is a highly desirable asset
Physical Job Requirements:

- Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one to another surface at approximately the same level.
- Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day.
- Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation.
- Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods of time while in the Operating Room.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in relation to travel and operating a personal computer.
- Regional Sales Managers are required to live within their assigned region and be available as unscheduled needs arise.
- Has access to a vehicle and must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, which may include weekend and/or overnight travel.
- Reside less than 1.5 hours from a major airport within Region.
- Ability to satisfy credentialing requirements for hospital access, including hospital-mandated vaccination requirements and/or other health screening requirements.
- Ability to navigate tight spaces within an Operating Room.
