The Role

Do you enjoy helping Customers by understanding their challenges and providing them quality solutions? Do you like working independently, traveling and building partnerships? Join our team as an Account Manager selling Sterility Maintenance Products, which includes sterilization wrapping, cleanroom tools & supplies, GMP covers, and sterile apparel to key potential Customers in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries. This field-based, territory management position will have you visiting customer sites, managing dealer networks, participates in the design and implementation of sales strategies, identifying prospects and presenting new concepts and products and ensures optimal service. You will effectively manage the sales process and leverage STERIS’s industry leading technical support to help Customers find the best solutions for their operations. You will identify and generate leads for future business opportunities and be responsible for timely and accurate reporting to sales and marketing. A job well done means you have utilized excellent listening and communication to increase Customer satisfaction and exceed expectations across multiple decision levels within the three state region (CA, WA & OR).

This is a remote based customer facing position. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory candidates must be based out of one of the following states: California

What You Will Do

  • Sells STERIS in-process steam sterilization packaging to the pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing sectors. Consults with Customers and evaluates needs in order to recommend, sell and support innovative solutions and ensure Customer satisfaction. Responds to Customer inquiries, troubleshoots issues post-sale and manages and supports the dealer network as STERIS field technical resource.
  • Identifies and proactively seeks out valid sales opportunities and methods to develop new Customers and to build sales with existing Customers. Develops strong long-term business relationships with Customer base.
  • Communicates Customer requirements and assists in transitioning the sale of services to the appropriate internal cross-functional teams (Customer Service, Marketing and Technical Service).
  • Evaluates non-routine complaints from Customers and takes appropriate action to bring to resolution.
  • Identifies opportunities to grow sales by researching potential product/service areas that may benefit Customers. Educates Customers on product line and services.
  • Provides competitor “intelligence” to marketing and operations functions.
  • Provides timely reporting of activities in order to measure and progress against goals.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry and market trends as well as technical knowledge and understanding of products and services. Attends educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Business

Experience that Matters

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years documented experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical or clean room environment preferred.
  • Validation, quality, technical services experience preferred.
  • Experience working in or selling technical products/services preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, analytical and formal presentation skills, with ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as with Customers
  • Strong skills in persuasion and influence, with ability to negotiate skillfully with both internal and external groups
  • Excellent computer skills, including strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel 40-50%. Valid driver's license required.

Pay range for this opportunity is $67.060,00 - $90.279,00. This position is eligible for commission.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Employees are covered by an employee assistance program (also available to household members) and long-term disability. Full-Time Employees are also eligible for short-term disability. Full-time Employees will also receive Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service and paid Holidays. Part-time employees working 20 or more hours receive a pro-ration of the full-time PTO allocation and paid Holidays based on their standard hourly work week. Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.

Our Healthcare Customers are federally mandated (by Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services or CMS) requiring vendors to have the COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption. There are select Customers who do not accept any exceptions. Unvaccinated Associates may be excluded from working at a Customer site, require routine testing with an approved exemption (if accepted by the Customer) or have limited Customer access impacting their ability to remain employed. Additionally, we may be required to meet state mandates on COVID-19 vaccination, exemptions and/or booster requirements. This position is a Customer-facing role that falls under a state or CMS mandate.
