United States Recycling Inc. began operations at 6101 Tacony Street in Philadelphia, PA in 1985 as an independently owned collector, processor, and marketer of recyclable material. An emphasis on quality service and long-term relationships enabled the company to grow to its current state: a full-service packer, broker and exporter- handling the entire range of recyclable materials.
We handle sales, purchasing and movement of a large variety of recyclable plastic and fiber materials including but not limited to; cardboard, newspaper, office paper, tissue, magazine, HDPE, LDPE, PET, ABS and more.
We offer a complete range of recycling solutions to Residential, Commercial, and Industrial customers.
Position Summary
Manage a successful secondary commodities brokerage focused on procuring and reselling recovered paper, plastic, and other recycled commodities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grow commodities recycling brokerage business by building relationships with printers, recyclers, municipalities, waste haulers, paper mills and other generators of recovered fiber and plastics.
- Locate, price and strategically purchases scrap materials.
- Negotiate long-term resale deals with high-volume buyers.
- Spearhead end-to end sales management of existing customer base and brokerage relations.
- Source, qualify and explore prospective and emerging business opportunities.
- Research, follow, and react to latest domestic and international commodity-oriented news and trends to develop prospect lists, sales strategies, and pricing models.
- Oversee all logistics activities, including scheduling material pickups and deliveries, negotiating, and contracting with freight haulers, and ensuring receipt and distribution of materials according to strict deadlines.
- Generate prospect lists through various self-sourcing methods, including web research, customer referrals, competitor research, cold calling, trade show attendance, and third-party relationship building.
- Meet with clients to review the quality of materials, procure samples, review billing and performance, discuss additional opportunities, and renew/extend contracts.
- Manage inbound/outbound plant tonnage.
- Communicate customer questions, concerns or requests to the appropriate individual or department within the company.
- Obtain product specifications and secure opportunities to quote on customer requirements.
- Manage all accounts payables, accounts receivables, pipeline reporting, and administrative responsibilities.
Experience
- Knowledge of the plastics industry a MUST
- Experience in waste management a plus
- Knowledge of paper and plastic grades a plus
Skills/Abilities
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks under pressure
