Full description of the position

ACF West, Inc. supplies geosynthetics to the construction and transportation industry.

We are looking for an Inside Sales Representative for our Portland, OR branch.

The position reports directly to the Branch Manager. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the Sales efforts of the branch to ensure the successful execution of sales plans. The Inside Sales Representative sells, quotes and promotes geosynthetic materials, in addition to ensuring prompt and accurate communication with customers on their orders and delivery dates.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Sales:

  • Works with customers to convert inbound inquiries into sales orders.
  • Overcomes technical and business objections for prospective customers.
  • Emphasizes salable features, quotes prices, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained.
  • Makes outbound sales calls based on sales activity plans generated by Outside Sales or Branch Manager.
  • Estimate and build project quotes.
  • Follow up on all opportunities within a timely manner.
  • Pro-actively builds our customer base thru phone calls, emails, etc.
  • Enters all new contacts and project info into the CRM immediately. Make sure the program is up to date with the client’s info.

Customer Service:

  • Builds and maintains customer relationships.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer based on product knowledge, order processing, and delivery schedules.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems.
  • Updates customers of any changes to the promised delivery date.
  • Stay’s up to date with material needs and inventory for our customer base.

Administrative:

  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Complies with required company policy and procedure.
  • Communicates with purchasing on quotes, product shortages or quality issues.

Operational:

  • Works with Walk In-Customers through order completion (Write Order, Load out Customer)
  • Is the 1st available person in the office to assist customers (after the warehouse people)
  • Loading Out Bound Trucks as necessary (Transfers, LTL, Etc.)
  • Unloading In-Bound Trucks as necessary (Transfers, Vendor Shipments, Etc.)
  • Delivering material to customers if needed

Communication:

The ideal candidate must be extroverted, confident, and possess the ability to effectively communicate the benefits of valued-added service and products to employees, customers, and vendors.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the construction and building materials industry is highly desirable.

Language Skills:

Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Additionally, must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. As required, this person will make presentations to the Branch Leadership Team, and public groups.

Other Skills/Certification:

Proficient in Microsoft Office – particularly Word and Excel.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as discounts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
