The Associate Director of Sales solicits and develops business from all markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the hotel. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Director of Sales in the day-to-day sales operation. This individual will also be responsible for developing sales strategies and mentoring of sales team.

Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATAIONS:

• Five 5) years' experience in Hotel Sales as a Director and preferably in a luxury resort.
• Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes; can effectively upsell products and services; can bring a sale to closure
• Strong customer development and relationship management skills
• Possesses excellent telephone sales skills
• Strategic planning skills
• Ability to evaluate business trends and modify business strategies accordingly
• Effective decision making skills
• Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
• Strong presentation and platform skills
• Ability to influence others
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships e.g., associates, customers, vendors
• Strong customer and associate relations skills
• Good training/facilitator skills
• Understanding of resort and/or competitive market
• Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems CITY

REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Hospitality Management degree beneficial

MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Directs the sales solicitation efforts in all market segments and distribution channels of the Sales, Catering and Reservations Departments in order to achieve budget guidelines for occupancy, average rate and yield revenue goals.
• Responsible for the day to day administration and personnel issues of the Sales and Marketing Department in areas such as meetings, scheduling, conflict management and staffing.
• Sets and monitors objectives, counsel project management, sales techniques and annual reviews.
• Conducts tours and offers presentations to clients.
• Coordinates ongoing market research into market trends to develop effective marketing strategies.

• Keeps abreast of competitive hotel features, benefits, marketing efforts and strategies.
• Travels and represents the Company at various functions and trade shows in order to develop new business and monitor key accounts.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Interacts with management, applicants, fellow Associates and/or guests.
• Requires use of standard office equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
