Scope of Position:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting, contracting, producing and executing Catering events

Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities:

• Handle event inquiries, prospecting, proposals, negotiations and contracting according to procedure.
• Solicit new and existing catering accounts and opportunities including entertaining, attending industry functions and maintaining relationships.
• Schedule site visits and walk throughs with clients and provide assistance to any walk-in clients
• Guide clients with appropriate food and beverage selections, room layout, décor, and audio visual needs as it pertains to each event
• Management of events from 10-750 people
• Generating the Banquet Event Order and floor plans
• Coordinate event details with the Culinary, Banquets and Service teams to ensure successful event

Financial responsibilities:

• Generating a Summary of Charges for the client and making sure that payment is received for both the deposit and final payment prior to the event
• Inputting of the food and beverage figures into Delphi to assist in the budget and projection for the year
• Responsible for meeting or exceeding catering forecast and budget

Requirements

Mandatory

• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal in English language
• Must have familiarity with food and beverage basics, menu planning and event coordination
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
• Must be a self-motivator.
• Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
• Must have mathematical skills, computer software aptitude and some hotel operation knowledge.
• Must be able to relate to all levels of management
• Must have superior organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in catering sales, as a catering manager

Desirable:

• New York City based luxury hotel experience desirable
• Knowledge of specific hospitality industry applications is desirable (Delphi, HMS and All Seated preferred)

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $85,000/yearly + points
