Department of Defense Business Development – Job Description

Purpose:

The Business Development role is responsible for leading business development of Department of Defense accounts and opportunities.

Details and Responsibilities:

• Develop and Win Contracts. Demonstrate a successful track record of developing leads, proposal development and winning contracts with the DOD.
• Proactively identify, develop, and track opportunities for DOD contracts.
• Maintain a working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and DOD acquisition processes.
• Manage existing client relationships and expand the client base.
• Create and deliver effective client presentations and proposals that address specific client needs.
• Collaborate with the executive team to execute the company’s sales process and achieve growth objectives.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive business development plan to achieve sales and revenue targets.
• Assist in the development of marketing strategies and actively participate in marketing events for lead generation.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of sales initiatives.
• Metrics-Driven Approach
• Maintain a clear record of quota achievement and adopt a metrics-driven approach to prospecting and managing the sales pipeline through successful close.
• Proficiency in accurately tracking potential opportunities and forecasting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Utilize sales productivity tools effectively and demonstrate organizational skills.
• Meet all required qualifications, including passing drug screening and a Federal Government criminal background check with no felony records.
• Possess a current, valid driver’s license without suspension or limitations.

Qualifications:

• Must be a US Citizen
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in DOD business development and contract management.
• Knowledge of GSA contracts and experience selling services in the federal space.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated success in managing DOD programs.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
