The purpose of the Director of Sales and Marketing is to assure the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding the company’s expectations for top line revenue, efficiently managing sales and marketing expenses, train and develop sales team members, and actively participate in company events and programs. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing continuous improvements of process and performance in full support of company programs and expectations.
SUMMARY
Plans and implements sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Director of Sales Operations
- Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
- Develops and manages sales operating budgets.
- Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
- Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
- Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
- Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Monitors competitor products and sales activities.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
- Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.
- Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales programs.
- Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.
- Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.
- Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
- Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
- Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
- Directs product research and development.

- Responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business for both Rooms department and catering in order to maximize revenue profits.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and directs staff including recruitment, selection and development to achieve Company goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience preferred. Director of Sales experience for a full service hotel preferred.
- 4-year college degree and at least 3 year of relate experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 years of related experience.
- Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients. In addition to management company leadership and owners.
- Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
- Shows strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment
- Must be proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products
- Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
- Strong organization and presentation skills
- Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to read and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, guests and supervisors for optimum operation of the property
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
REASONING ABILITY
Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
