Full description of the position

Responsibilities

The Vice President, Sales Engineering plays a crucial role in driving revenue growth by providing technical expertise and ensuring successful pre-sales engagements. As a strategic leader, you will collaborate closely with the sales and product teams to optimize the sales process and drive customer satisfaction. The VP, Systems Engineering develops and leads the Regional/Segment Systems Engineer team through industry change. This leader focuses on broadly increasing visibility across the industry of the history of innovation and proven differentiation that Veeam has brought to the virtualization backup and replication software market to date, as well as into the leadership role that Veeam will play into data management solutions of the future. In addition, this leader will serve as a technology-focused sales professional who provides strategic business direction and technical vision across the region, and driving Veeam revenue through expert account planning, resource planning and allocation. Provides mentorship within his/her span of control by acting as a technical sales leader and business partner to the Sales leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Engineering Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the sales engineering team, setting clear objectives, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting collaboration to achieve revenue targets.

  • Pre-Sales Support: Oversee the sales engineering team's efforts to support the sales process, including conducting technical presentations, demonstrations, and proofs-of-concept to potential customers.

  • Customer Engagement: Engage directly with key customers, understanding their technical requirements, addressing concerns, and ensuring that our software solutions align with their needs.

  • Sales Enablement: Work with the sales team to provide training, resources, and technical knowledge to enhance their selling capabilities and drive successful customer engagements.

  • Solution Design: Collaborate with the product management team to gather customer feedback and insights to influence the product roadmap, ensuring our offerings remain competitive and aligned with market demands.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with product development, marketing, and other relevant teams to align strategies and ensure a seamless customer experience throughout the sales process.

  • Sales Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve the sales engineering process, identifying areas for efficiency gains and implementing best practices to streamline operations.

  • Industry Expertise: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to maintain a deep understanding of the market and provide valuable insights to the sales and executive teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • Proven track record of successful leadership in a sales engineering or technical pre-sales role within the software industry.

  • Strong technical background and ability to understand complex software solutions and architectures.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in building and leading high-performance sales engineering teams.

  • Solid understanding of software sales cycles, customer needs analysis, and objection handling.

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue targets and drive business growth.
