Title: Sales Manager
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Supervisory Responsibility: Sales and Marketing Team (3-4 Teammates)
Job Type: Full-time
On Target Earnings: Pay structure: $70,000.00 per year plus commissions on qualifying product sales. Potential annual earnings may be $120,000+ per year.
Additional Compensation: Dependent on performance and company profitability

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in Sales, Business, or related field.
Preferred Experience: 5-7 years of Sales Leadership experience. Outdoor industry or related field experience a plus.
Work Schedule: The work schedule for the Sales Manager is typically full-time, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility may be required to attend trade shows, industry events, or engage with customers and partners outside regular business hours.
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of the Sales Manager role is to drive the growth of our legacy yurt, tipi, and tent manufacturing company in Western Colorado. The primary focus is on generating marketing leads in the current target markets and developing strategies to expand into new markets. The role aims to increase sales and revenue by implementing effective sales and marketing initiatives, maximizing customer acquisition, and achieving sales targets while maintaining or improving profit margins.
Essential functions of this Role:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to drive business growth.
- Identify and analyze target markets to determine potential opportunities for expansion.
- Generate marketing leads through various channels, including digital marketing, advertising campaigns, trade shows, and partnerships.
- Build and manage a high-performing sales team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with the production and operations teams to ensure efficient product delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Analyze sales data and metrics to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing sales forecasts, budgets, and reports to senior management.
- Continuously stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in sales and marketing.
Expectations around Business Development and Carrying a Sales Quota:
- Proven track record in business development, including identifying new sales opportunities, building relationships with potential clients, and closing deals in the outdoor industry.
- Ability to effectively prospect and generate leads in both existing and new markets, driving business growth and expanding the customer base.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to penetrate new markets within the outdoor industry, including researching market trends, identifying target customers, and formulating sales strategies.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales quotas and revenue targets on a regular basis, demonstrating consistent sales performance and a results-oriented approach.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of sales opportunities, managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation to closing deals.
- Conduct thorough market analysis and competitor research to identify unique selling propositions and position the company's products effectively in target industries.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling sales and marketing materials tailored to target industries, showcasing the value and benefits of the company's products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and partners, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Utilize effective negotiation and persuasion skills to successfully close deals, while maintaining profitability and adhering to company pricing guidelines.
- Regularly report on sales activities, progress towards sales targets, and market insights to senior management, providing clear and concise updates on business development efforts.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs, constantly seeking new opportunities for growth and adapting sales strategies accordingly.
- Continuously improve sales techniques, product knowledge, to enhance sales performance and provide exceptional customer service.
Working Relationships:
- Report directly to the company's CEO or executive team.
- Collaborate with the production and operations teams to ensure alignment between sales and manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop and implement effective marketing campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, distributors, suppliers, and other external stakeholders.
- Manage and lead the sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
Environment and Physical Demands:
The Sales Manager will primarily work in an office setting. They may also need to travel occasionally to meet with clients, attend industry conferences, or visit manufacturing facilities.
The physical demands of the role are generally minimal, involving primarily desk work and using standard office equipment. However, occasional travel and attendance at industry events may require standing, walking, and carrying materials or equipment, and installation of yurts, tipis, tents at tradeshows.
