Job Summary:
The Sales Team Manager will oversee and lead the activities of the Route Sales Team. The sales team consists of a greater Tampa area team and remote teams throughout Florida and up the Eastern Coast into Virginia. The Sales Team Manager will be the driving force behind the sales teams, the go-to leader and mentor for all the sales representatives/supervisors. It is essential that you have experience in retail sales, strongly preferred in grocery or drug store setting, as well as strong merchandising skills. You will also be responsible for maintaining and building relationships with all account leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for hiring, training, and retaining a fully staffed sales team.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of sales supervisors and sales representatives.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership, motivates, and encourages the sales team.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
- Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
- Consults with potential customers to understand their needs.
- Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
- Provide constant feedback to staff and maintain proper documentation of training, mentoring, and performance reviews.
- Collaborates with executive leadership to develop strategies for growth.
- Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses.
- Acts as company representative at trade association meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Capable of working early mornings, hands on in stores with sales representatives.
- Superb communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to consistently travel throughout Florida up Eastern Coast to Virginia, up to 75% of the time.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Business Administration, or related field.
- Comparable record of DSD sales leadership experience preferred.
- Retail and merchandising experience required.
- Maintain clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Assist warehouse staff at remote warehouse locations.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification, training and certification provided by DSC Sales, Inc.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds at times.
