Job Description Summary
The Business Travel Sales Manager is a highly motivated individual who will solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. The ideal candidate is responsible for the development of business transient sales for the hotel and may also handle government and FIT transient market segments for the hotel. She/he will prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and will be responsible for contact and activity management for all accounts under their responsibility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Manage Corporate Business Travel Sales in a wide variety of industries. Sell guest rooms and services to transient market customers through corporate accounts, consortia, national accounts, travel agencies and individual corporate travel.
· Responsible for proactively developing and maintaining relationships with key clients in order to produce repeat business and while identifying, qualify and solicit new accounts for corporate transient market.
· Develop and execute action plans against existing and new target accounts to achieve and exceed sales quotas within the assigned segment.
· Prospect and penetrate new accounts for acquisition through a variety of channels.
· Convert new accounts into loyal accounts.
· Prospect, aggressively solicit, qualify and close business travel opportunities.
· Manage hotel’s RFP process and ensure accuracy of content in RFP tools such as Lanyon and Sabre.
· Develop personal sales campaigns and quarterly promotions in order to generate leads, promote hotel and increase visibility.
· Represent the Hotel at tradeshows, conventions, community events, industry meeting, sales trips and blitzes. Maintain an active presence in the community attending local networking events. Sell guest rooms and services to transient market customers through corporate accounts, consortia, national accounts, travel agencies and individual travel.
· Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, site inspections, entertainment, mailings, networking) to ensure maximization of revenue in order to achieve and/or exceed budgeted transient revenue goals.
· Manage current accounts and ensure proper solicitation of all transient markets.
· Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet and ideally exceed sales goals.
· Increase visibility of the hotel in the transient market, generating new business within the market.
· Build and maintain quantifiable relations in the local market.
· Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
· Attend trade shows, community events, industry meetings, sales trips and blitzes.
· Prepare and present effective status and period end reports, maintain well-organized documentation and coordination of customer service requirements with hotel operations staff as appropriate.
· Work as a team member with the sales staff and with assigned Administrative Assistant and other support staff.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures, products and competition, including their strengths and weaknesses, to continually improve sales strategies and achieve goals.
· Professional and positive communication to both guests and fellow employees.
· Attend weekly Sales, Revenue and Department Head Meetings.
· Execute additional projects as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
· Reports directly to Director of Sales and Marketing.
Qualifications Requirements

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (hotel school, University, and/or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 2- 4 years previous experience in a sales department of an upscale hotel, at least two of which were in a management position.
Language Skills
Must demonstrate effective English communication skills when dealing with other departments, clients, and hotel employees. Must demonstrate ability to read and follow written and verbal English instructions. Fluent in Spanish is preferred.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities
Stooping, bending, and lifting and average of 20lbs. Must be able to occasionally stand for a full 8 hour shift with one half-hour break meal period in between.
