Full description of the position

SOLON Corporation, a leader in the design, installation, and commissioning of commercial, industrial, community and small utility scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) , is seeking an experienced commercial (not residential) solar sales professional to develop business in the Southwest U.S. This position is responsible for SOLON’s business development for and sales to businesses, institutions, and governments in the Southwest U.S. outside of Arizona. Southwest U.S. would include, but not limited to, California, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas.

The compensation for this position includes base salary and commission. Commission potential is up to $150,000 in addition to base salary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate new business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their potential
  • Develop and qualify leads to drive additional sales opportunities through cold-calling, networking, attending industry events, reviewing RFPs and other lead generation opportunities
  • Analyze customer electricity usage history and utility details
  • Build client proposals and presentations based on customer goals, product offerings, and project specifications
  • Strategize market segments to focus SOLON’s marketing and business development efforts
  • Maintain and grow a pipeline of potential sales opportunities using SOLON’s CRM
  • Work with and expand SOLON’s current developer network to prospect 3rd party developed projects
  • Attend client site visits to determine project viability based on site conditions
  • Finalize customer pricing
  • Master the delivery of SOLON’s value proposition and competitive positioning
  • Negotiate and finalize various complex contracts including PPA, EPC, and Lease agreements
  • Attend customer board meetings as required to finalize a sale
  • Coordinate with the engineering and construction teams to provide an efficient and thorough transition from sales to installation
  • Periodically follow up with customers post-sale and once construction as completed
  • Achieve objectives established in the annual sales plan
  • Attend weekly business development strategy meetings with analysts, marketing, and executive leadership
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of solar and energy storage by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks, and continuing education
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years successful commercial (C&I) or utility scale solar sales, or similar technical sales experience in the solar industry
  • Experience selling to high level decision makers
  • A strong track record of full-cycle business development and lead generation
  • A sales professional skilled in building a customer base and sales pipeline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a CRM software system
  • A four-year college degree in engineering or business or a related field

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
