Position Summary
The National Sales Director is accountable for managing the overall effectiveness of the Compounding Sales team and ensuring efficiencies are in place to achieve the goal of growth strategy deployment and increased prescriptions from the medical community. The National Sales Director monitors sales operations throughout the company and looks for ways to increase productivity and lower costs. This person will often be in direct contact with other leaders within the company, working with them to create policies to improve workflows and minimize points of friction. The National Sales Director will analyze volume/Rx data, identify growth and ease of use opportunities, and to positively influence relationship management with operational best practices. This stakeholder will be accountable for growth of compounding prescriptions by targeted, scaled outreach of offices both engaged and yet-to-be engaged from the field team.
The National Sales Director will partner with the VP, Business Development in their development and implementation of a strategy for delivering patient Rx business from medical providers. The strategy requires the National Sales Director to support the pharmacy leadership to ensure the appropriate infrastructure is in place to directly and accurately support Rx development, service line offerings, and communications with external providers.
The National Sales Director is responsible for ensuring results of the Compounding Sales Representatives. The National Sales Director works cooperatively with the VP, Business Development to train and coach OSR’s to implement action steps to best achieve efforts focusing on physicians and other potential Rx sources in the target markets. The position primarily focuses on directing OSRs in developing and improving OptioRx’s relationships with all Rx sources in the service area, with the goal of increasing the selection of OptioRx for compounding prescription volume.
This individual must be able to multitask with the ability to identify efficiencies, operationalize solutions and track progress to achieve results in a team environment. Additionally, this role requires excellent analytical, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Essential Functions
- Assist with all onboarding activities for new OSRs as well as ensuring that new OSRs complete all required training.
- Responsible for ongoing training/coaching for OSRs to address deficiency in skills, enhance current skill set and are equipped with the tools required for success.
- Assist in the development of market-based service line initiatives.
- Responsible for mining data to find potential physicians and referral sources that currently are not choosing to send prescriptions to our pharmacy but have opportunity to do so. Strategically implement strategies to develop relationships with these Rx sources and educate them on the quality of our services with hopes of gaining their Rx business.
- Responsible to work with local personnel from OptioRx pharmacies to develop strategic initiatives that will lead to increased selection of OptioRx.
- The National Sales Director will be expected to develop meaningful relationships with key providers and OptioRx executive team to assist in the sales process.
- Provide intelligence to appropriate OptioRx pharmacies as to process improvements requested or suggested by physicians.
- Thoroughly research possible referral sources to understand where and why they refer patients to our pharmacy and other pharmacies. Works with key department members to implement operational fixes that may be needed to better serve patients and physicians.
- Creates a targeted growth plan which includes a detailed list of Rx sources to be contacted to achieve growth plan.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all market dynamics as they relate to physicians and other possible Rx sources, and the competitive environment.
- Monitor Rx source feedback for the purpose of identifying process improvement opportunities. Suggest innovative ideas that will help achieve growth goals and implement those ideas, once approved by leadership.
- Assist in hiring of Compounding Sales Reps when needed to fill open positions.
Nurture Growth
- Meet KPIs of campaign influenced revenue growth
- Work with VP, Business Development to schedule & plan nurture marketing campaigns
- Initiate request to VP, Business Development lead to develop nurture content/messaging
- Assist VP, Business Development in content development for nurture campaigns, as needed
- Upload campaign lists into CRM
- Report out on campaign performance
- Primary contact for Doximity account – strategy, targeting, content development, execution and follow-up
Collateral
- Work with VP, Business Development to understand collateral needs & develop ideas for new items and enhance current inventory
- Initiate requests to VP, Business Development to develop new and update existing collateral
- Assist VP, Business Development in content development for sales collateral, as needed
- Continue as the approver for all sales collateral orders and submit PO requests for orders
Process Improvement for Increased Sales Velocity
- Enhance sales productivity by enabling the team to work smarter by simplifying processes
- Maintain regular check-ins with OSRs to determine how sales opportunities are tracking against plan and identify any problems for internal review and problem solving
- Develop and create calendar of monthly clinical focus and collateral support
- Work with service line/ strategic leaders to update the yearly clinical focus for targeting
- Partnering with pharmacy and enterprise leadership, ensure that OptioRx is operationally ready for outlined Rx growth
- Own the end-to-end process of tracking the sales funnel and operational metrics and delivering regular insights to the business
- Define and deliver techniques to improve the funnel performance for sales leadership.
- Providing models and organizing statistical studies for the sales team
- Recognizing, developing, and implementing process improvements within the Sales organization, as well as hand-off processes from OSRs to the Hub
Training and Onboarding
- Sales team onboarding lead – create onboarding schedules for each new OSR
- Enable the team to work smarter by simplifying processes
CRM Administration
- Maintain functionality of CRM
- Assist the OSRs with pipeline and opportunity inspection
Sales Team Communication
- Partnering with Sales Leadership to create and maintain sales forecasting models and data
- Developing and maintaining daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and Key Performance Indicators
- Lead coordination of National Sales Summit and Winners Circle events
- Work with VP, Business Development to develop comms plan for new programs
qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
- Previous experience in leading a large healthcare sales team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software such as [please apply online] communication skills, both verbal and written.
