Full description of the position

Summary:
The Watersports Sales Consultant is responsible for selling water toys and Kayaks. Responsibilities include working with the customer, customer service, sales, inventory management, cash handling and product merchandising.

**Commission on top of hourly pay**

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following:
  • Acquire full knowledge of the complete product line, features and accessories available for purchase
  • Show products in the showroom, at off-site displays or shows, and demonstrate kayaks and toys on the water.
  • Oversee the delivery of each unit sold
  • Cash Handling
  • Product Merchandising
  • Inventory management/control
  • Professionally lead and support customer events including demo days!
  • Actively participate in boat shows and other off-site promotions
  • Project a professional and knowledgeable image at all times
  • Other duties may be assigned

Requirements:
Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak English effectively to customers and/or employees of the organization.

Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Experience working in the boating industry.

This position may supervise and/or assist employees relative to specific but has no direct reports.
Work Environment:
This position operates in an indoor/outdoor location up to 100% of the time where exposure to weather elements, dirt, and dust, unpleasant smells, and/or loud noises is possible. – The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Physical Demands:
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and converse with employees, maintain a stationary position (standing and sitting), move/traverse, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods of time. The worker may be required to operate in close quarters, crawl spaces, small rooms, and narrow aisles and passageways.
  • In order to effectively perform the essential functions of this role, the employee will be required to meet the physical demands of the field, which may include pedestrian surveys in small areas, taking notes and recording resources; carrying the necessary field equipment; and other physical duties as directed by your Supervisor and/or the manager.
  • This position requires the ability to stand to lift boxes of up to 50 pounds.

Hazards:
The employee in this position may be exposed to certain hazards as part of the duties and responsibilities of the position such as heavy machinery and noisy environments, driving and working in adverse weather conditions, and the possibility of being a lone worker. NVMC will provide the required personnel protective equipment (PPE) needed to mitigate or eliminate these hazards and all employees will be trained on the appropriate use of PPE.

Position Type:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but is flexible based on need. Evening, night, and weekend work may be required as duties demand.
