Full description of the position
Position Purpose
Founded in 2017, Network Transport has experienced over 777% top-line growth and is quickly becoming a leader in the logistics industry. This position is instrumental in the growth of our business.
To develop relationships with customers and solicit freight orders from a designated and assigned base of Network customers by fax, phone, e-mail, web-based platforms, and electronic data interchange and once received, enter the freight orders into McLeod TMS.
Job Functions
- To prospect daily for new freight opportunities from customers.
- Consistently and continually solicit committed and non-committed freight orders from a designated and assigned customer base via a multitude of communication exchanges daily, commensurate with company and business level needs.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to allow for the greatest opportunities in generating the highest level of order volumes.
- Aggressively accept, pre-accept, and enter all freight orders into McLeod.
- Work with manager of business development to maximize the amount of freight orders to accept.
- Work closely with the carrier sales team to ensure all freight is being properly covered and on time service metrics are being achieved.
- Keep customers informed of the status of deliveries, including in some cases updating of the customer web sites or EDI exchanges.
- Make a minimum number of outbound calls daily along with minimum number of weekly conference calls (these goals to be determined on individual basis, depending on experience) to maintain set revenue goals.
- Create a cold call strategy to solicit new customers.
- When onboarding new business, work with account managers and carrier sales team to ensure a smooth transition.
- Work with new customers and customer service representative so that the accounts can smoothly be transitioned over to customer service.
- Communicate with customer service personnel and management to advise them on any feedback provided by the customer relative to our service or changes in their business levels with Network Transport.
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Ability to travel to visit customers to maintain a good working relationship with the customers.
Key Knowledge and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. College degree preferred.
- 2-3 years’ work experience in the transportation industry or, customer service, direct with customer service solicitation, inside sales or sales preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with above average Excel skills.
- Experience working in a deadline driven environment preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
