About the Job
This position will work with the National Sales Manager and our internal Task Lighting and Power products team to identify and pursue new business with lighting distributors, lighting showrooms, developers, contractors, designers, and architects. Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining long-term relationships with independent electrical sales agencies and company sales representatives calling on key customers. The Task Sales Specialist will be responsible for approximately one half of the United States (geography to be determined).
The Task Sales Specialist is responsible for achieving quarterly, annual, and long-term revenue and margin targets for these opportunities, monitoring competition, recruiting new and desirable customers, and working with the electrical agencies and sales team and to implement sales and marketing programs for Task Lighting to grow sales profitably.
This is a hands-on position, demonstrating to the electrical agencies and company sales representatives “how it’s done” while being directly responsible for the revenue and margin growth of Task Lighting in their territory. The Task Sales Specialist will be considered an expert in all things lighting, and a go-to resource for teaching and selling by example.
In a coordinated fashion, a typical day would include working with the sales team mining opportunities and prospects, creating sales strategies and presentations, scheduling time in targeted geographies, and face time with existing and potential customers in a coordinated fashion with the sales team.
Best practices gleaned from this role are to be shared with the Training Department for course development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop relations with existing electrical agencies to further promote sales in the electrical division
- Manage sales expectation for agencies in your designated territory
- Identify key accounts – create and execute key account plans
- Builds relationships with key customers to enhance long term business prospects
- Work within our organization to prepare sales proposals based on customer needs and expectations
- Develop value propositions to address customer needs

Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Applicable industry experience may also be considered
- Five years of previous sales experience preferred
