Today Piedmont Plastics is seeking an exceptional Industrial Market Specialist to add to our Corporate Sales team. This role is a key member of the Corporate Sales team that is responsible for the development and profitable growth of new business within an assigned industry segment by utilizing extensive industry, application and product knowledge. This position will focus on key markets and be responsible for building our knowledge, presence and market position by performing the following duties and responsibilities.
As an Industrial Market Specialist, you will:
- Establish a business plan for key markets to understand size, scope, products, competition, key customer, pricing, and opportunity for Piedmont to gain a position
- Establish sales plan and objectives to close business and develop the assigned industrial market(s); plan should include short-term sales goals, margin goals, key customer targets, marketing requirements, and articulate long-term viability (3-5 yr.) of this market and include competitive environment and specific business opportunities
- Assist in establishing annual sales, margin, and travel and entertainment budget
- Maintain strong knowledge of the assigned industry segment to identify business to business (B2B) sales opportunities; define strategy to develop and close business by utilizing the Piedmont Sales System (PSS), Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM), Piedmont business philosophies, and methodologies
- Work closely with branch sales teams to further customer relationships and manage local opportunities
- Educate Branch Managers and Regional Buyers regarding inventory needs and expectations to serve key and prospective customers and markets
An ideal candidate will possess:
- At least 2 years of outside sales experience in plastics, industrial distribution or industry-related sales experience with a track record of exceeding assigned sales goals
- A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of two year's related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in plastics, industrial distribution or graphics-related sales
- A personal vehicle in good condition
- Basic computer skills
- A willingness and desire to travel almost exclusively and the schedule to allow overnight travel as well
