The Post and Courier, the South’s oldest newspaper that is now expanding digitally throughout South Carolina, seeks a Sr. Regional Marketing Account Executive for New Business Development to secure marketing and advertising partnerships with medium-to-large scale businesses throughout the state. The Account Executive will place a distinct focus on prospects that operate in multiple cities or regions across South Carolina. Through this role, the Account Executive is responsible for selling The Post and Courier’s portfolio of owned and operated products as well as in-house digital agency King & Columbus’ full suite of digital marketing solutions. The position will exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals within an assigned territory or client list; developing new business through extensive sales calls and conducting client needs’ assessments; and providing quality service to advertising clients. This position should serve as a trusted marketing consultant to organizations of all industries – providing solutions in digital, social media, print, event sponsorships, and more. This is a hybrid position that does require limited in-state travel; Charleston or Columbia as place of residence is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as new business development account executive, targeting medium-to-large accounts statewide. Focus markets are prospects in Charleston, Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and Aiken.
- Consult with prospective partners on their marketing strategies, including guidance on current marketing trends in the respective marketplace.
- Conduct outside sales activity – cold calls, customer needs assessments, strategy meetings, etc.
- Focus will be on acquisition of new business and/or long-term contracts
- Achieve assigned monthly and quarterly sales goals through upselling, prospecting efforts and new business development
- Growing number of active accounts through securing new clients
- Increase financial investment per client over a period of time
- Generate and follow-up on sales leads; identify key decision makers
- Develop marketing and advertising strategies for partners to review
- Collaborate with product specialists in presenting needs-based solutions to clients
- Continual training and learning on digital marketing solutions and Work with staff designers to generate concepts and ensure message accuracy for advertising creative for respective clients
- Track all prospecting efforts and sales in Hubspot CRM tool
- Attend staff and sales team meetings as required
- Represent The Post and Courier at company events or at community events and/or networking opportunities as needed
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 3-4 years of sales, marketing, media or business development experience
- Experience in advertising sales or marketing agencies is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of excellence in sales/client support
- Limited in-state travel is required.
