Job Summary

Coordinates all activities regarding designated customer groups. Responsible for all projects for the assigned customers. Possesses and applies an extensive knowledge of customers' technical needs. Regular and consistent attendance and ability to maintain positive working relationships. Has excellent interpersonal and communication aptitude at different organizational levels. Directs work to meet customer needs in an efficient manner. Meets customer needs to the best of his/her ability, in line with SIEGWERK philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Adheres to all labor/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related discipline, 10-15 years related industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous management and supervisory experience required.

Must live in the Des Moines area.

Solvent basked Ink or Coating industry experience required.

Knowledge of Siegwerk USA Co. raw materials and processes preferred.

Familiarity with printing press equipment and substrates preferred.

Detailed knowledge of market partner technologies.

Must have well-developed leadership ability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word/Excel and E-mail, required. All lab equipment, including heat sealer, bond tester, ovens, balance, glossmeter, Geiger proofer, computer, calculator, mixer, shaker, K-Coater, slide angle, C.O.F. tester, & Corona treater.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Extensive contact with external customers and other departments.

Job Responsibilities

Meets customer needs.

Works with customer to determine if project is viable for both the customer and SIEGWERK USA CO., defines request parameters.

Needs to know all details regarding any project of the assigned customer.

Organizes projects and determines priorities, improves communication and information retrieval.

Assures that all materials are at customer site for trials, works with printing service to determine required technical assistance.

Approves all technical data for customer proposals

Determines cause for success or failure of each project, rectifies any problems

Determines and arranges for customer training, may conduct training.

Educates project leaders, chemists, and technicians regarding product line, customers and market conditions.

Assists in correlating QC and Production at all manufacturing facilities.

Adheres to all departmental/company policy.

Maintains a neat, clean and safe work area.

Other duties as assigned.

Special Equipment/Working Condition Requirements

Overnight travel (>50%), required

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports: 5-10 employees in the Solvent Groups, to include Project Leaders, Technical Specialists, Chemist, & Technicians 3-6

Indirect Reports: 0

Internal/External Contacts

Various contacts both inside and outside the company, including Technical Service, Production, and Quality Control Labs, Customer Service, Regulatory Compliance, Sales, Purchasing, Suppliers, Technical Account Managers, etc.; communication with customers on special projects.
