Job Summary

The Applications Engineer, reporting to engineering, is responsible for the coordination of new product development assuring quality with both product and documentation delivered to customers and internal development teams. This position is for our ZETTLER Controls division and will primarily provide product and applications support for our line of Class 2 chassis mount transformers used in HVAC-R applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review prospective customer requirements against ZETTLER product capabilities
  • Work with ZETTLER development and manufacturing locations in China and Vietnam on product proposals and specifications
  • Coordination between ZETTLER factories and customer facing teams (or directly with customers) for successful product introductions
  • Assist with product or complaint verification as needed for new and existing products

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand 2D and 3D drawings, power circuit schematics, and technical publications from standards bodies or safety agencies (previous experience required)
  • Comfortable operating electronic lab equipment such as AC/DC power supplies, multimeters, load banks, and thermal chambers (previous experience required)
  • Familiar with root cause (failure) analysis, data analysis, and quality management concepts
  • Professional approach, utilizing good judgment and creative problem solving (an investigative mindset)
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take unnecessary risk
  • Forward thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and purposes solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, positive attitude and a team player

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Five plus years of experience in power electronics or electromagnetic theory required
  • Technical engineering degree preferred
  • History of working with Asian suppliers preferred
  • Intermediate level competency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with Adobe Acrobat (PDF tools)
  • Familiar with using Auto Cad software

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
