Account Manager

Job Details

Rinker Materials is a leading manufacturer of pipe and products in the U.S. and Eastern Canada for a variety of water-related infrastructure applications, including water transmission, distribution and drainage.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

Revenue Metrics:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of company products, services and benefits to customers.
  • Identify customers and prospects that fit an ideal customer profile.
  • Develop and maintain business familiarity with prospects and existing customers.
  • Ensure an intimate knowledge of all the sales opportunities from desired and existing customers.
  • Construct and propose accurate, timely cost-effective project bids and estimates for jobs in assigned area.
  • Ensure follow-up of proposals to determine award.
  • Ensure that estimates and proposals are delivered timely and accurately.

Identify New Sales Opportunities:

  • Identify and document new opportunities for customer base expansion.
  • Remain current on municipal, state, and federal specifications that can create opportunities in assigned territory.
  • Help promote the use of pre-cast concrete in assigned territory.
  • Actively look for opportunities for new uses of pre-cast (vs cast-in-place) concrete.
  • Develop professional relationships with elected officials, engineers, and bureaucracies affecting infrastructure construction.

Communication:

  • Ensure Director of Sales has an accurate understanding of all aspects of project bids (profitability, constructability, critical timelines, plant selection and other contingencies) as well as projects awarded or assured of being awarded in a manner that allows the Operations team to partner together.
  • Partner with Customer Coordinators and the Operations group to ensure proper and accurate hand-off of new jobs, proper and accurate documentation of new projects into the on-boarding process including pertinent information that will help produce better designs, higher quality products, higher margins and an overall better customer experience leading to increased sales.

Reporting:

  • Provide accurate and timely reports.
  • Monitor account receivables status of customers as required to meet company A/R requirements.
  • Regularly update competitive tracking reports, market share data and win loss data.
  • Maintain account, contact and all pertinent customer information.
  • Provide customer details, revenue forecasts and budgets to management.
  • Provide account status updates as directed.

Distribution:

  • Assist with managing supply houses.
  • Set distribution prices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience.

  • Experience in a building products related sales position preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Outstanding relationship building skills.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
  • Emotional intelligence – self-aware, able to control and express emotions in a productive way, empathetic, strong interpersonal skills, adaptable and able to collaborate with all levels from production employees to management.
