JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the New Business Development Account Representative is directly responsible for the identification and development of strategic relationships with potential customers within a defined area to promote new business sales growth, while complying with all regulatory agencies and requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, FDA, and Airgas policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Overall areas of responsibility includes sales, sales growth, gross margins, safety, and accounts receivable.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Exemplifies, promotes and develops safe work behaviors.
Ensures all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is completed.
Customer Service / Business Development
Builds relationships with existing customers in an attempt to increase their current business.
Ensures all customers receive quality customer service from company associates.
Ensures customer inquiries are promptly and courteously handled, providing follow-up to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Develops a strong pipeline of new customers and projects
Identifies, prioritizes and penetrates target accounts.
Highly motivated to work independently within established procedures associated with sales.
Uses current and new technologies to effectively develop new market initiatives, assess new markets, and analyze business opportunities in addition to sales leads
Generates proposals for new business opportunities and partnerships that support
overall corporate goals; negotiates contract details; works with District Manager and Area V.P. to close deals.
Demonstrated ability to determine customer needs, volume potential, and pricing schedules.
Stays current with knowledge of business competition on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
Maintains a professional presence and demeanor that is reflective of a corporate image.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May assist customers with equipment set-up and demonstration as necessary.
Maintains / upgrades selling skills and technical/product knowledge.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated ability as a highly motivated individual who performs exceptionally well in a sales capacity. Demonstrates understanding of products, services and associated technologies or the willingness/ability to learn. Must be able to explain types of gases and their uses to customers. Excellent presentation and good negotiating and public speaking skills. Knowledge of corresponding geographical area. Ability to drive and walk considerable distances on a daily basis (5-100 miles per day). Strong verbal and written communication skills, self-starter, self-motivated, sense of urgency, personable, extroverted personality, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention detail. Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and background.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors' Degree from an accredited college/university in sales, marketing or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 7+ years' experience in an industrial-type sales or distribution environment. Negotiating and selling skills required with a proven record of achieving or exceeding assigned sales goals. Past record of achieving double digit year-over-year sales growth a desire. COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Continuously - In the field 85% of work time
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and product literature using the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
