Group Sales Manager
General Overview of Position:
This position is responsible for generating new business under designated market segments for the resort; Developing and maintaining existing clientele as well as on-site management of each group; Responsibilities also include generating hotel and casino business by selling property facilities and services to potential clients.
Responsibilities and Job Functions:
· Responsible to solicit and book new business with emphasis on small Corporate, local negotiated accounts and SMERF groups.
· Respond to customer inquiries and request for pricing.
· Negotiate, with direction from Director of Revenue, all rates for group, wholesale, special corporate/preferred corporate accounts locally and volume negotiated accounts.
· Responsible for developing and maintaining client lists/groups.
· Write contracts and proposals following solicitation of customers to formally document oral agreements and terms.
· Plan for and execute inside/outside calls and client entertainment with Meeting Planners, Travel Agents and other intermediaries.
· Maintain communication with clients in order to ensure that signed contracts, deposits, credit applications, rooming lists and any other pertinent information is received and handled in a timely manner.
· Conduct research on client room nights/revenue performance.
· Manage and monitor group bookings to ensure that all group specifications are arranged in a timely manner and coordinated appropriately with other departments to ensure client satisfaction.
· Maintain in-depth files on all accounts; via hard files and/or automated account management system.
· Understand the transient sales strategies, promotional programs and strengths and weaknesses of competitor transient hotels.
· Monitor operational implementation with all departments.
· Cross Sell resort outlets (i.e. dining, casino).
· Quarterly travel required per marketing plan with focus on leisure, travel industry and travel agents clientele.
· Actively participate in local and national industry related activities.
· Be self-motivated, team-oriented, ambitious and driven for sales success.
· Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Essential Functions:
- Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, customers and outside contacts.

Qualifications:
· Minimum 2 years hotel Sales experience
· Broad understanding of hotel group sales strategies and techniques required.
· Excellent communication and time management skills.
· Demonstrate knowledge and experience in overall hotel operations.
· Knowledge of Micros Opera hotel computer systems, telephone systems, and effective communications techniques.
· Knowledge of statistics.
· Knowledge in forecasting and budgeting.
· These skills are typically acquired through a minimum of 3-5 years successful management experience in hotel operations, sales and/or marketing with a 300 + room property.
· A bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Marketing, Business or related area is preferred.
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:
In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
- Attend required training sessions offered by Downtown Grand.
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the employee’s department.
- Have knowledge of the Hotel’s programs to address problem gambling.
- Consults with the appropriate individuals and maintains and effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with Nevada Gaming Regulations and Minimum Internal Control Standards.
- Takes the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
- Reports items addressed by the “Compliance Questionnaire” as they occur to the Compliance Officer or his designate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
