Overview of position:
The Director of Business Development is a key member of the company’s leadership team and will lead all efforts to maintain and expand relationships with high-profile, multi-location accounts. This position will assume a primary role in personal account development and be responsible for securing outside contracts that will drive the company’s achievement of its customer acquisition and revenue goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage outside sales and personal account development including appointment scheduling, personal calls, time and territory management, and follow up. Assistance from inside staff may be called on, if needed, for mailings, proposals, and associated administrative functions but will be very limited given the tasks that the inside staff already have assigned.
- Proactively assesses, clarifies and validates customer needs to meet national sales presence
- Reviews market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, pricing needed and sales campaigns.
- Represent Company at trade shows, associations, and similar events to promote company if deemed appropriate by prior consultation with Vice President
- Co-ordinates new account start-up with Vice President including thorough review of account profile and specific service requirements.
- Submit weekly sales reports to management that outlines contacts made and status of account and potential revenue to be gained. Submit weekly expense reports. Both items are time sensitive and should be routinely submitted each Monday.
- Will participate in company meetings and/or conference calls by presenting monthly sales recap.
- Responsibilities also include identifying other potentials within an account for the affiliated companies of Brown Integrated Logistics.
- Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Required Skills:
- A degree is preferred or similar outside sales experience of at least 5 + years concurrent.
- A proven track record of Sales and Market Analogy in the Truckload industry.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient in the use and support of all MS Office applications.
- The ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at one time.
- Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast paced, quickly evolving environment.
Environments and Physical Requirements:
Travel will be required as needed by auto and plane. Overnight stays as necessary. Duties include progressive administrative functions such as using the phone, computer, and communicating with people. This job will require occasional lifting of no more than 50 pounds. Must be able to sit a minimum of 8 hours per day, perform keyboard operations and must be able to stand /climb stairs as required. They will be minimum exposure to fumes and noise.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,880.56 - $196,028.70 per year
