The Opportunity
The Director of Business Development is multi-faceted, cross functional role that will drive revenue growth, develop strong relationships with key client and carrier base within the Northeast region, and be a sales leader to our brokers. You’ll help lead the charge in growing business within your region while leveraging your industry knowledge and expertise to help develop our new brokers that are connecting with clients in your region. At Steam Logistics, we obsess over our customers, and we believe that each customer should receive a custom-tailored solution to their supply chain issues. You will act as the problem-solver, clearly identifying and articulating any gaps or opportunities that allow the customer and Steam to build a stronger partnership. We need a strong Director of Business Development to champion our customers’ needs and voices to our internal teams. With Steam’s fast-paced growth you must be seasoned and prepared to lead, train, and mentor our burgeoning brokerage team.
Responsibilities:
Manage Salesforce pipeline of opportunities for their respective region – always prospecting, growing existing business, and winning new business.- Grow profit margins within your book of business, looking at your sales through a lens of continuous improvement to maximize margin.
- Expert in our industry – logistics has it’s own language, and you can speak it fluently.
- Deliver forecasts and pipeline information to operations and management teams.
- Servant leader and mentor to the brokers that you will engage with on a daily basis
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
5+ years of direct sales experience in the field (drayage, ocean, or truckload)- Experienced in customer-facing role, managing full sales cycle, analyzing customer accounts, identifying churn signals, account growth opportunities, presenting and selling to C-suite level decision makers, identifying opportunities, and providing value-based solutions, building relationships, and collaborating closely with team members across all of Steam’s departments and stakeholders.
- Be able to manage and lead a diverse team of brokers effectively from a remote position.
- Strong ability to facilitate meetings with customers and users of various levels of professional seniority
- Solutions and results/goals-oriented mindset
- Success adapting in fast-growing and changing environment
- Up to 50% travel monthly
