This position would work in conjunction with AE or Producer and following established industry and company guidelines, responsible for managing an assigned book of business, increasing account retention and new business support, and meeting all performance requirements regarding production, quality, and ensuring that no liability associated with errors and omissions occur. Responsible for strategic coordination and execution of day-to-day administrative and customer service activities for assigned accounts. Capable of resolving complex customer service problems, showing the ability for critical thinking and thought process in taking the next step in the best interest of the client, carrier partner and IOA. Serving as a subject matter expert for administrative, customer service and account management team key duties and responsibilities.
Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager essential functions include:
- Maintains high degree of technical competence and industry / market expertise
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment to ensure beneficial outcomes for clients and IOA
- Serves as Account Manager subject matter expert answering questions, providing support, and developing solutions to client problems for account team
- Assists in directing day-to-day activities and work flow assigned to administrative, customer service and account management team that are performed on assigned book of business which include delegation and prioritization of assignment/task, communication on performance expectations, and monitoring execution to ensure performance requirements and timelines are met
- Management and execution of a variety of customer service and value-added service requests/inquiries including but not limited to: account activity; policy administration and insurance placement; billing activity, claims administration; coverage/loss analysis, contract review for insurability; review policy forms / endorsements / audits, identify errors and facilitate corrective actions, certificates of insurance/evidence of property and cancellation/reinstatements
- Manages policy expirations for existing clients and works proactively to ensure appropriate actions are taken to facilitate renewals and ensures all new and renewal insurance policies are bound, billed and issued accurately and delivered to the Client/Insured within required timeframe
- Manages new business and policy renewal process in conjunction with AE / Producer including but not limited to:
- Conducting client research and gathering complete underwriting information
- Conducting loss run analysis
- Preparing complete and accurate submissions including Acords and / or supplemental form; send out to market and / or perform online rating as required
- Evaluating and negotiating coverages and pricing
- Presenting proposals
- Binding coverage and complying with any subjectivity(ies) as required by carrier, Surplus Lines Association and / or IOA
- Invoicing and executing premium finance agreement when applicable
- Diligent follow up for Policy Issuance
- Review all policies, identifying and notifying AE, or Producer of any discrepancies and ensuring that all necessary changes are submitted to and issued by the carrier
- Maintaining accurate and complete policy / transaction detail, schedules / summaries of insurance
- Monitors Accounts Receivables reports and takes action on any delinquent accounts along with collecting outstanding balances due
- Maintains agency management system, other agency supported systems and carrier/vendor online platforms, ensuring all data entered is complete, clearly presented and well documented, accurate, and up-to-date
- Monitors and maintains activity / suspense, taking necessary action to ensure completion within required time frame
- Maintains frequent, transparent communication with account team regarding individual and team client service and policy administration activities, ensuring that the AE or Producer is/are fully informed of workload status, questions, concerns and/or any errors, discrepancies or changes as it relates to the account and their insurance policies and facilitates appropriate/corrective actions
- Delivers excellent service at all times, including proactively anticipating needs, maintaining frequent and professional communication, and responding quickly to service requests
- Continually stays abreast of all company policies and procedures to ensure good knowledge, execution and compliance of standard operating procedures
- Continually seeks to improve individual and team performance, including identifying, communicating and adopting best practices
- Lives and champions IOA core values at all times, demonstrating the highest level of personal character, integrity, and servant leadership
- Regular and consistent attendance is expected and a necessary component to the job
- Performs other duties as assigned
Non-essential functions include:
- Back-up for teammates as needed, covering for others in their absence and ensuring overall team service excellence
- Participates in training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development of account team and / or new hire
- Lifting and carrying large equipment / boxes over 5 lbs.
- Bending and stooping to utilize necessary office equipment
- Participation in team building and other activities
Qualified candidates will have:
- 5+ years of account management experience; or 7+ years related experience in the insurance industry
- Has a very good working knowledge of insurance brokerage business and all clients’ needs
- All required active licensing
- At least one professional designation preferred such as CIC or equivalent
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization kills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Outstanding verbal / written communication skills
- Ability to perform large work volumes with high degrees of accuracy and attention to detail
- PC proficiency, including basic knowledge of MS, Outlook, Word and Excel
- Exceptional personal character
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
