The Sales Trainee starts their career path by going through the Sales Trainee Roadmap. The Roadmap outlines the steps that a new Sales professional will take to become qualified to take an Inside or Outside Sales position within the organization.

The Sales Trainee learns sales processes by completing training assignments and rotation through the different departments of the organization. A sales trainee works closely with customers, building long-term relationships with them, thereby bringing new business to the company. He or She acts as a business consultant helping solve our customer’s problems, making their business more successful. Sales trainees must develop strong written and verbal communication skills; learn how to be organized, motivated, energetic and resilient, as even the most experienced salespeople face rejection on a regular basis. A sales trainee is also taught how to work alone and as a member of a team.


Responsibilities:

  • Learn sales administration by rotating through each department to gain a clear understanding how each department functions and how sales transactions affects those departments.
  • Learn Product and Applications through training classes and shadowing of inside and outside sales professionals.
  • Observes sales process by traveling with account managers; attending sales and service calls.
  • Practices sales process by calling on existing and then new accounts; adhering to established sales steps.
  • Accomplishes sales and organization mission by completing related sales strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum associate degree in a technology field (engineering, electronics)
  • Prior experience in a similar sales role can be substituted for education.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
  • Must have a stable work history, no more than two jobs within the past three years.
