WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As a Sales Engineer you will leverage your technical expertise in order to support the development of our new and growing sales department. This will include taking ownership of lead generation and working with capture teams to shepherd opportunities through the sales process. Your understanding of Quartus’ value proposition and differentiators, as well as industry knowledge will be essential to the role.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Improve the effectiveness of Quartus’ new and growing sales department by identifying and recommending short- and long-term process improvements, and implementing directives
  • Owning lead generation including prospecting, attending conferences, leveraging existing personal relationships, working with Quartus engineers to renew cold leads, etc.
  • Capturing all Business Development (BD) and lead generation outbound/inbound efforts in HubSpot, ensuring all information is accurate
  • Qualify potential opportunities and shepherd deals through the sales process by working on proposal writing, creating content libraries, ensuring all Request For Proposal (RFP) requirements are met, managing proposal schedule, and soliciting input from technical team, and final review
  • Establish and grow a wide network of clients and partners within Quartus’ defined markets and the engineering community
  • Partner with broader Business Development and Marketing (BD&M) team to be a resource and provide feedback for marketing outreach
  • Answering client questions by providing engineering service and technical information or directing to the appropriate technical point of contact.
  • Maintain involvement in project execution, providing a resource to facilitate conversations about additional projects or expansion of work
  • Identify current and future engineering services that Quartus may be able to market by establishing personal rapport with clients and others who understand engineering service needs of the industries we service.
  • Work with the new business capture teams for top clients, including prospecting and outreach to new leads at key clients to facilitate corporate cross-selling and growth of key clients
  • As appropriate work with Directors and engineers to develop business models, return on investment plans, and marketing plans in conjunction with internal research and development (IRAD) projects.
  • Attend Trade Shows and industry events as well as educational workshops, other lead generating activities, and participating in professional societies.

WHO IS RIGHT FOR THE JOB?

You have a strong engineering foundation in one or more discipline: mechanical, aerospace, optical, or electrical engineering which will assist you in this technically-oriented sales position. We are willing to provide sales training for someone who brings the passion for building relationships and a desire to learn.

LOCATION

Based in San Diego with a hybrid work schedule.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • B.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Optical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of sales/engineering professional experience
  • Ability to build client rapport, discuss possible solutions to client problems, challenge client thinking, create tailored engagement solutions to meet the client needs, and drive closure
  • Experience with lead generation through prospecting and understanding how to qualify opportunities
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and leveraging social media for networking (i.e. LinkedIn)
  • Willing to travel
  • Well-versed in a range of engineering capabilities and applications or willingness to acquire knowledge, such as:Computer Assisted Engineering: Design, Analysis, Simulation

Aircraft, Automation, Imaging, Launch Vehicles, Mechatronics, Metrology, Remote Sensing, Robotics, Spacecraft, UAVs
Mechanical/Aerospace, Opto-Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, FPGA, and Software Engineering
Prototype and low-volume manufacturing
